Holiday Bowling
Take ten toilet tissue tubes and attach tag board snowmen and Santas. Draw a triangle shape on the floor and place the tubes in a 4-3-2-1 triangle. Have the child roll a soft ball and bowl. Get the children counting by setting up tubes, and by counting the ones that are knocked over.
Variation: You can use cleaned out 2 liter soda bottles with a small amount of water in them (decorated). And you can bowl with a small pumpkin, or even a grapefruit!
equal parts apple sauce and cinnamon
cookie cutters
ribbon or string
Mix equal amounts of applesauce and cinnamon (for instance 1 cup of each) until you have a dough. Roll out on waxed paper and cut into shapes using Christmas or themed cookie cutters. Poke a hole in the middle, near the top to hang a ribbon or string when the ornament is dry. You may set these out on the cupboard to dry -- it will take several days and you'll need to carefully turn them in order to dry both sides. Or, you may turn your oven on to 200 degrees/warm.
1/4 c. margarine
1 - 250g pkg regular marshmallows
1/2 tsp vanilla
6 cups cheerios
red and green candies ( m & m's)
white icing
green food coloring
In large saucepan over low heat, melt margarine. Add marshmallows, stir until melted. Remove from heat, add vanilla and green food coloring. Add cereal, stir until well coated. Butter each child's hands well, then give them a large amount of cheerios to shape into the shape of a Christmas tree (pyramid). When it is well packed with their hands, let them take white icing and stick the red and green M&M's on for christmas lights. Something that is beautiful as a decoration on the mantle, or as a snack! Enjoy.
