Christmas Coupon Books
  • 3 1/2 x 5 unlined index cards
  • gift wrap
  • ribbon
  • gift tag
  • crayons
  • paste or glue
  • Have children think of gifts that they could give to their parents without spending money, such as hugs and kisses, help with chores, a special drawing or a song, etc. Have children illustrate "coupons" on the index cards (or on pieces of heavy paper cut to size), saying things like, "Good for one hug" or "Good for help with the dishes," etc. On the gift wrap, trace an index card twice, giving you two 3 1/2 x 5 rectangles of gift wrap. Paste these to two of the index cards to use as front and back covers for the coupon book. Arrange the coupons between the covers and staple together at the left side. Glue four pieces of ribbon about 6" long to the back cover -- one at the center of each side. Wrap the ribbons around the edges and tie them in a bow on the front so that your Christmas coupon book looks like a present. Attach a gift tag.
