Contour Drawing (one line)

Contour Drawing (one line)

You'll Need

pencil, sharpie, paper
Draw like Paul Klee! We are exploring Klee's style by creating a line drawing called contour. Contour drawing or "one line drawing" is when you draw using one continuous line - never lifting the pencil. Have your children think of something simple to draw. Animals are always a good choice. Have them think about what they are going to draw before they begin. Make sure that they start in one spot and continue to draw the object without lifing their pencil the whole time. This is NOT easy, but it's fun!! Once they are done - let them trace the outline with a sharpie marker. Paul Klee 1879-1940 Paul Klee came from a musical family. He was born in Switzerland. Klee was a trained violinist and studied music in Germany. It was hard for him to decide between a career in art or music, but he chose art. Klee was deeply interested in the art of children and tried to capture the creativity of children's art in his own paintings. He often conbined colorful paintings with line drawings, sometimes incorporating symbols and numbers in his art.
