Cookie Paleontologists

Cookie Paleontologists

You'll Need

Per Student: one chocolate chip cookie, two toothpicks, one paintbrush
This is a great project to show students how difficult it is to be a paleontologist or archeologist. Each child is to try to get as many whole chocolate chips out of his/her cookie as s/he can without breaking the cookie. Children will quickly learn it takes a lot of patience to scrape away the cookie part and leave the chips just as it takes a scientist much practice to scrape away rock and dirt to reveal artifacts. They can use the toothpicks to scrape away the cookie part, and the brushes to wipe away the crumbs.
