Dad's/Mom's Day Keepsake Handprint Card
  • construction paper
  • finger paint
  • paper plate (optional)
  • markers
  • paintbrush
  • glue and scissors(optional)
  • Take a piece of construction paper and fold in half to make a card. Pour some finger paint onto a paper plate. Take a paintbrush and cover each child's palm with the paint. Have them spread out their fingers and keep their hand still and firm for the best hand print. This hand print can be placed on the front of the card or on the inside. Just be sure you have enough room to put the following poem inside. You can use markers, but the best way is to print the poem out on a computer in child-like print, then cut around the poem and glue into the card.
    Dear Mom,/Dad,
Here is my hand print for you to keep,
So that when I grow BIG and TALL,
You'll always be able to look back and see,
How I once was very small.
    love,
    child's name
Be sure to put the year somewhere on the card. I put Mother's Day 1999 on the back when my class did this project. They turned out so cute! I used all different colors of construction paper and paint and let the kids choose. We put "Happy Mothers Day" on the fronts and decorated them with colorful flowers and such. The poem was just a simple short and sweet one that I wrote myself, but the parents LOVED it! These cards brought tears to our moms' eyes-Hope you have the same results!!
