Floor Letters

Floor Letters

You'll Need

Alphabet stamps,Ellison Cut Alphabet (Capital or Lower Case),package sealing tape
I have finally found a way to teach letter recognition, letter sounds, word associations, and get kids to find their places on the floor for circle time all in one simple step! I simply put all of the letters of the alphapet on the floor in a way that I would want to have the children sit for circle time. I then cover them with package sealing tape. Every morning when the kids come in, I stamp a letter on their hands. Before they can go and take a seat, I ask them to tell me the letter, and what sound it makes or name a word that starts with that letter. Later in the year, I'll start putting lowercase letters on the floor and continue to stamp capital letters on their hands to make it more challenging. It really works wonders!
