Flower Placemats

Flower Placemats

You'll Need

Pressed flowers(heavy book - fresh flowers - tissue paper),clear contact paper, and optional pretty fabric
On a spring day pick some flowers. Lay them, not touching each other, between two pieces of paper and place on different pages of the book. Leave the book closed and in a dry place for a few weeks. With the contact paper cut out the size of place mat you want (two for each place mat made). If using fabric as a background, cut the material so that it 1/2 an inch shorter on all four sides. Take the pressed flowers (purchased or made as described above) and lay them on either the material or on the sticky side of one of the contact papers (You will not be able to re-position the flowers so be careful). When the design is as you want it lay the contact paper (sticky side down) on the flower design. If you used the material turn over and lay the contact paper (sticky side down) on the back of the material. Then firmly press the contact paper together all over. You can finish off with using scissors to make a decorative border.
