Foamie Fun Stuff

Foamie Fun Stuff

Print Instructions

  • A variety of colors of foamie craft foam
  • stencils
  • runoffs
  • scissors
  • an x-acto knife
  • ziploc baggies
  • and your great imagination
All you do is find a few pictures, runoffs, or stencils of things you want to do and use them for things like puzzles, relays, or matching games. A few things I've done are as follows: Foamie fun pizza, take a sheet of brown foam create a personal or larger size pizza crust, if you want to you cdo an inner circle of tomato sauce, and add cheese, then take some runoffs of things like bell pepper slices, mushrooms, pineapple, pepperoni, etc... and draw the outlines as you like them placed on your pizza, cut out the holes for the foamie toppings to go into with your x- acto , then cut your ingredients (scissors will cut the foam also, but use the x - acto for inside a puzzle pattern) stuff it in a ziploc and you are set, other toppings for fun are (silly stuff- worms, bugs, mice, etc... Candy stuff - m & m's, jolly ranchers, chocolate chips, etc...). I also used stencils and just cut out about 3" x 4" animals then with scissors I made it a 2 piece interlocking puzzle, use different shapes, but make sure they interlock or pieces get lost easy. For the matching I took a frog stencil and traced about 5 different colored frogs, then I traced 5 lily pads cut them out put them in a ziploc and it was an instant attention getter. One last thing I did was take a butterfly pattern with 4 shaped holes on the wings and I cut out 5 different colors. then i used the x- acto to cut out the holes, I put 1 butterfly and 5 non-matching colors in a ziploc and made it a relay game, who can get all four shapes in his/her butterfly first (beware not all pieces come to a perfect fit as nobody can cut the pieces out of each butterfly exactly the same :) and when the game is done they can use them as puzzles! *Do Not let children use an x-acto knife!

Bus Stop Backpack Game

This is a great idea to keep children busy during down times (bus stop, bus duty, bus ride home, etc.). -Find a plain, flat spot on the backpack and create a tic-tac-toe board using velcro and any inexpensive plastic toy pieces (or make your own game pieces from craft foam). Draw the tic-tac-toe board on the backpack with a permanent marker. Then, attach velcro in each square of the board. Last, attach the other side of velcro to each game piece and put them on the board. Make sure you have five of each game piece. The game pieces can be nicely stored in one of the outside pockets of the backpack.

Keepsake Handprints

Crayola Model Magic
and favorite color of paint
small bowl or plate

Get a small handful of Model Magic and spread out to a little bigger than child's or adults hand, use the bowl or plate to use as a guide for the shape. You can also use this idea for a footprint. Press the hand into the model magic to make an impression in the clay. When you feel you have made an impression peel of hand and set out to dry for at least 24 hours. When Model Magic is set or hard to desire, paint the handprint or footprint in favorite color. You can also paint the outer edges of hand a different color. Let paint dry and give as a great keepsake gift.
