Handprint Tree

You'll Need

Tempera paint,paper,tree form (or pole),poem

Example of tree to use:

Handprint Tree

I will wrap a pole in my classroom with butcher paper. Then I will paint a poem onto the pole. The students will then place their hand-prints and names on the pole. This is a great beginning of the year project to foster the starting of a new community. The poem I use has an unknown author.

"Grab hold of a magic pencil, Open your eyes and mind

For now begins a journey, Of the most exciting kind.

A journey into learning A step ... a start... a glow,

And I will be there with you to help and watch you grow."
