Nature Walk

Nature Walk

A library book I borrowed suggested this idea. When out on walks with your children, either short jaunts to the local parks or longer "hikes" as a family encourage your little ones to collect things they see along the way, i.e. pine cones, twigs, leaves, bark fallen from trees, etc. When you return home help them make a "treasure box"- decorated a plain shoe box with colored paper or let your child scribble on the outside of the box with magic markers. Use your imaginations! Label he box with your child's first name and the label "treasure box". Encourage your kids to revisit the walk or hike by going back into the box and examining the contents. You can do this with them and remind them of things they saw or did or make up your own stories. There are no limits to this activity. Use your imaginations and have fun!
