Rather than throwing out those promotional CDs we all get in the mail, take them to school and have the children use them for a variety of crafts or curricular tools. They are sturdy and just the right size for little hands to hold so you could turn them into any number of card games or sequencing activities. You can also use them as tracing guides for drawing circles. I have cut apart comic strips and glued them to the cds, putting each into a different envelope and allowing the children to put the comics in the right order-- this is much sturdier than cardboard and much easier to construct. I have also thrown them into a "craft box" allowing the children to make their own creations- Christmas ornaments, coasters, a base for a sculpture- imagination rules!
