Sandcasting

Sandcasting

You'll Need

foil pans ( as deep as the shell ) ,quick plaster of paris ,damp sand ,large can for mixing plaster, fish line or heavy string, scissors ,variety of shells
It is best to do this activity outdoors on a table, or in a well ventilated area. Mix plaster and water into large can according to directions. Have the child line the pan with the damp sand about 1in. thick. Then push the shells into sand, but do not cover. Then quickly pour the mixture into the pan. Set both ends of string into plaster forming a "hook" to hang when dry. Let dry outside for at least 12 hours. Then remove over trashcan and brush off excess sand.
