Winter Waltz

Transform your room into an imaginary frozen pond. Move back all the furniture and objects to form a clear space in the middle of the room. Have the children remove their shoes and "skate" on the pond. You can play "The Skater's Waltz" by Emil Waldteufel, or other holiday tunes. You can put on a fan to simulate the cold weather. You can hang snowflakes from the ceiling. You can do this activity by itself, or after reading a winter story. *Another suggestion is to Let children have two pieces of wax paper a little bigger than their feet. This makes "skating" on carpet easier. *Here's another hint, First, a great way for the children to "ice-skate" on carpet is to save the plastic bags that your newspaper comes in
