I don't know if it made national news or not, but there was a serial pedophile/kidnapper working I10 between Lousianna and San Antonio...I 10 is about a mile from our home!!! He was kidnapping young girls and returning them (thankfully) anyway..they caught him today west of San Antonio and he killed himself!!! The girl he had was safe.

YIKES! I hadn't heard anything about him! Did he kill himself before they actually apprehended him? So glad it's all over. Will keep all of the young girls traumatized by him in my prayers and hope they get thru their terrible ordeals. :(

I heard the tail end of the story on talk radio. Sounds like the guy was pulled over (don't know if it was a coincidence or they knew it was him) and the 11 yr old girl made a run for it. The guy then shot himself. Listening to the news can be scary! The neighbor heard there was someone in a red van that had tried grabbing some kids. I never heard the story. The neighbor told DS (9) about it. When he told me we reviewed what to do if someone drives up and asks for directions or asks you to look at a picture of their missing pet ect.
A couple of months back they caught a murderer a couple of miles from my house. I think he had stabbed an elderly women to death in Illinois. DH was out of town. I was so thankful I didn't even hear about it until 15 minutes before he was caught. They had sighted him earlier and had police out in force with heat sensing equipment, night vision, and dogs. I would have spent the entire day petrified!

I too am glad that it is over. I will also be keeping the victims and their families in my thoughts and prayers. I can't believe what some people are capable of. It really makes me mad. ARG!!!

You hear these stories everyday but it really makes you stop and think when it is so close to home. I don't feel safe letting dd walk to the end of the block (about 10 houses) to a friends place unless I stand at the end of the driveway and see that she is there safely.

Glad the creep is gone anyway. One less menace to society.

The FBI isn't confirming that it was the same guy, but this guy was a repeat sex offender who was in out and out of jail, and just recently released for "good behavior"...how ironic!

How AWFUL for all of his victims!!! I hope it was the right guy... it sure sounds like it is. This might sound awful but... one less pervert to have to worry about being on the streets. I'm sure that everybody will be able to rest a lot more comfortably knowing that he's gone. I've never let my kids (day care or my own) walk anywhere alone... and the elementary school is only 3 blocks away from my house. It's been a few years, but somebody tried picking up a little girl waiting for her bus at my corner. She was only 5 years old and evidently knew exactly what to do... cause she turned around and started screaming like a banchie, and he took off. I still can't understand why her mother LET her stand out there alone every day anyway... and only a few weeks after this happened she was back out BY HERSELF AGAIN... Ugh!!! You just can't do that now adays... :(

Diane...
