I can't believe Saturday is finally here. It has been a long week here, and it is getting longer. I have to clean house this morning. I got the bedroom finished the other day when we had no school on Wednesday, I will start on the office room Monday since we have no school, but today, I am going to do the rest of the house. My kitchen floor needs a bath bad, LOL. My mom also wants to go to Walmart and pick up some hurricane stuff. I told her she was waiting too late. I was in there yesterday and they really were running out of a lot of stuff. (ie... bottled water, canned food, batteries, oil lamps, oil, flashlights, propane stoves and lanterns, etc.), but we are going to see if she can get something. If not dh and I have all the neccessities. (I hope)

For any of you following the storm, here are some links. It looks as if the storm has moved a little west now so the eye is not right over us anymore, but once again, we will be on the east side. THANKS for all of your prayers and well wishes. They are working!

Leigh, I am hoping that you are all safe and sound! I'll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.

Woke up really really early today cuz the man who is working on our basement told me he wanted to come early. I don't think he meant 4:00 in the morning though  My internal clock thought maybe I should unlock the door and make sure the alarm was off for when he came.

Beautiful day here today. I hope I can enjoy it. I'm off in a minute to get my eyebrows waxed :goofy: and then dh and I have to go pick up an area rug that we had made for the living room. Can't wait to see it :yippee:

Other than that... nothing else on the agenda except help the kids with their homework :read:

Hope ya'll have a great Saturday!!!!!

I too am glad it's Saturday. It seemed like an awfully long week. LOL I've got SO much to do... my house looks like a hurricane hit it. With everyone either moving out or moving their rooms... for some reason it seems to carry from one room to another and befor you know it every room get's it. I've got tons of laundry to catch up on, floors to scrub and window's to wash. I've got to pick my mom up in a little bit to take her dog (Bruno) to get his hair cut. While he's in there getting that done I'm going to take mom to the Family Dollar store and a consignment store that is right down from where Bruno is getting his hair cut. After that I'm hoping to be able to come home and get everything done. Oh yeah... I've got the invitations for the Neighborhood Block Party so I also have to go hand those out. Busy day...

Leigh... I'll continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Hope everything goes well for you.

Take care...

Diane

I'm working all day 8:30-5:30 at the gas station. Dh worked last night (and all this weekend) from 6 pm-6 am. I talked to him a few minutes this morning when he got home and he'll leave for work before I get home. I guess I'll get to see him tomorrow.

I can't believe it's Sept.11th already (again). It doesn't seem like 3 years have passed. So much has happened in our world since then.

Try and stay safe Leigh. I'll be praying you and your family and the rest of the people in Ivan's way. Only 2 1/2 more months of hurricane season to go.

Vea- have fun on your date tonight. What's the guy's name again? I thought you mentioned it before.

Marla-the dks have homework on the weekend?

Diane-hope you get everything done today.

Yikes Leigh, you are still on the dirty side. Looks like the eye is going right over Destin in that first link.

DD is gone to Six flags all day (girl scout day), DS is going to the hs football game tonite and we are going to a dinner party.
we never see our kids anymore! LOL DD was running around all afternoon with friends, then went to the Y for kids night, DS never came home from school, went to a friends then back to the high school for the freshman girls volley ball game then rushed in to change and then went bowling with the church...DH and I looked at each other and said 'wanna go get some dinner?" LOL

This is kind of cute, and I can't remember if I posted about this. Homecoming is coming up and apparently the boy cant just ask the girl to go with him, but he has to come up with some sort of clever idea. One boy made a jigsaw puzzle of a picture of him holding a sign that said "will you go with me?" another boy went to build a bear...now these are freshmen! my next door neighbor did that for his SENIOR prom!
DS isn't really in to dating yet and was like "i gotta be creative???" I was like "you are a freshman we aren't being ridiculous"! LOL
Also, it's a 2 day date. Game on Friday and then on Saturday dinner and dance.
He decides he's gonna ask this sweet girl that I think he likes but is also buds with. She takes theater at the same place right after dd. Thursday, we decorated my car in his high school colors (balloons, streamers) and he got some of that dollar store jewelry and made a poster that he put on the back of my car that said "put some bling, bling on and go to homecoming with me!"
she saw it when she drove up. Now, she has to answer back creative! Yesteday she dropped off some cookies and a necklace that had 'yes' written on it with a poem that said 'as you can guess the answer is yes, have some cookies and bling on me"
the good side for ds is that the boys only ask to homecoming and prom, the rest of the time it's the girls asking to the dances.

Wow...I can't believe the kids go to that much trouble about a homecoming dance. I'm glad your ds asked a friend...and we can't wait to hear more about this event. Sounds pretty elaborate. Is the dance/dinner at school? Formal (like a prom is)? What ever happened to getting up ther nerve to just call a girl...I still remember how nervous everyone was around homecoming/prom time. LOL

Well, at least with this, you aren't asking her face to face! There is also alot of "if i asked so and so to go with me, would she?' going on first.

nope, not formal..short dress for the girls, kahkis for the boys, but ds is going to wear his white tux jacket and jeans.

they will be going out to dinner somewhere first and then the dance is in the cafeteria.

Tidying up today. Now that ds3 is sleeping I am going to go outside and clean the van and put in the new car seat. The old one is going in dh's truck.
Going out tonight with a friend. We are heading to a town about a half hour away to go to the fair and the grown up party in the arena. Should be fun. Dh's going to babysit her kids too. They live next door to us and her daughters are so good with my kids, especially the youngest. It should be a breeze for him, we are used to having 5 kids anyway. :biglaugh:
Dh will be at his sisters all day tomorrow finishing her ceramic floor that they did last weekend. They just have a little caulking left to do. Not sure what the kids and I will do, depends on the weather. Maybe just the park.

Ann, I can't believe the way boys ask the girls there. There is no way it would happen here, they could barely ask a girl on a reg. date. Most chances in high school (at least when I was there) the kids would start hangin' out by accident and then considered themselves dating. And the girls would go in groups to movies and dances, no boys were going to ask for a date. Odd! lol

Jak, it's hard to believe it's been 3 years for sure. The victims and families are in my thoughts.
