Dh really messed up. LOL Poor thing, Tuesday night he BURNED, killed, mutilated a piece of bread in the microwave and I can't get the stench out of the house let alone the microwave.
Can anyone suggest how to get the smell out of the microwave? I tried nuking a bowl of baking soda/water...... it cleaned the heck out of it, but it still stinks. LOL

Yikes...what was he trying to make?
What about putting some vanilla in a dish? Maybe the smell of the vanilla will hide it (but it might ruin whatever you dish you put it in)

Thanks! I might actually try cloves too, they always smell so good when I boil them.
Oh, he was just warming some bread for dinner. He always does this - puts something in the microwave, sets it for like, 3 minutes, then tries to remember to stop it after 20 or 30 seconds. I wish he'd just set the stupid thing for 20 or 30 seconds! LOL He just forgot he'd put it in there, until the house was full of smoke.
a bowl of vinegar for about 5 minutes?????

When I was watching those cleaning ladies on oprah today they said to cut up a lemon and put it in the bowl of water and micro for 5 minutes...Loosings burnt on stuff and gets rid of the smell.
As far as the house you might want to try febreeze ...spray on furniture carpets etc. I love that stuff...I think they even have one to freshing the air. Goood luck

That's what I was going to suggest. I have used lemon in water in my microwave to get rid of smells before.

I know there are cleaners you can get just for microwaves. I would have suggested the lemons too. Let us know what takes the smell away.

Coming in late to the discussion, but I use baking soda and water and micro about 5 mins, it loosens the crud and helps neutralize the smell. Good luck! Hope you find something that works!!!
