After the first of the year, cell phone #'s will be made available to telemarketers, and since you pay for incoming as well as outgoing calls, it'd be a good idea to get your cell #'s put on the national do not call list. You can call or do it online. I did both our cell phones and our home phone (again). Here's the info:
www.donotcall.gov or 1-888-382-1222

DO IT!!! I did all 3 numbers at the same time online, then they send a confirmation email with a link you have to click and your registered.

It's still a good thing to register your home phones, but this particular notice is a hoax.

Good info, thanks!! I got the email from my dad the other day. (didn't even notice the deadline date! LOL) Still glad I put our cell #'s on it, just in case. Those darn telemarketers can be sneaky and will eventually find a way around any laws or fees, they always do!! Thanks for posting the links, though!

I registered my cell yesterday too....I've been very happy since I did my home phone...Only people like my cable company get through...You know how it is as a preferred customer...LOL

I called our cell phone company last week and asked about this and they said they will not release our name or any info, but anyone who lists their cell phone number on something like a credit card application or something like that opens themself up to telemarketer calls. They also said people who don't have a land line and use only a cell phone and have to list that places will be more subjected to telemarketer calls than someone who doesn't give that number as often or use it as their main contact.
