I was looking through the newest Oriental Trading Co. mag that just came and saw wax lips!! Man, talk about a time warp! I vividly remember my friends and I digging through the box of wax lips to find the best ones!! We also loved pop rocks and fun dip! What was your favorite candy when you were a kid?
Remember those candy cigarettes that had powdered sugar on them, under the wrapper that you could blow on and make it look like smoke?!!! Gee, wonder why on earth they stopped making them!! LOL

Amy, such a great post! I loved the candy when I was growing up.

There was on store in particular in Toronto that would sell the best candy. My favourites were Fun Dips, Bottle Caps (candy shaped like pop bottle lids that came in different flavours), Black Cat and Fizz candies.

There are a couple stores in Toronto now that have brought back all of the candies from the "good ole days".

NowI have to say fun dips (just the sticks).and the candy cigarettes. and those candy neckelaces. Basically anything with a quick sugar fix...LOL

A walk down memory lane!!! I remember everything mentioned so far and loved them all!! I buy Fun Dips for my dks every once in a while and try to talk them into giving me one of their sticks - like Vea, that was my favorite part!!

Anyone like Lemon Heads? I used to get those whenever I was with my cousin at my grandparents.

Pop rocks, bottle caps, fizzy candy, those lollipops that were made of the powder sugar instead of hard candy, runts, you name it! lol
I remember the first time I gave pop rocks to ds2 and he was eating them in a parking lot and yelled out "Mommy, my mouth is sparkling". LOL
I remember my favorite chocolate bars were wigwams (can't find those anymore) and coffee crisp.
Remember the Pop Shop? Or was that just a Canadian thing? They had every flavour you could dream up as a kid. Too bad they aren't around anymore.

I remember those Wack-O-Wax Lips... LOL They also sold Wax Soda Bottle candy. We use to chew the wax like it was gum. :) Also loved the Brach's A&W Root Beer Barrels. Remember the Cigar Bubble Gum? Use to get that all the time too. Dot candy, Candy Stix Cigaretts. Gold Mine Gum... it use to come in these little gunny sacks with a draw string. Chicklet's Gum... My all time favorite candy bar was the 7-Up bar. It was SO good. It had like seven different centers all in a line. :licklips: Good post... LOL

As a chubby little kid I liked all candy! I have never heard of the dots candy stuck to paper, but I remember the cigar bubble gum, the only reason I ever got those was because it came with a ring on it - loved jewelry even more than candy!
There sure were a lot of different choc. bars we enjoyed as kids that aren't around anymore.
Dianne I remember the rootbeer barrels too!

I'm like the odd one out here coming from a different country, haven't heard of a lot of what you guys are mentioning, but, I remember corner stores having small open boxes of all sort of different lollies (candies). My brother and I would take our pocket money, and spend AGES pointing out to the poor man behind the counter what we wanted. Like, "I'll have 2 of them, and 3 of them- no, make that 4" etc... He was usually patient with us, even though he must of sometimes been getting frustrated. The lollies were put into white paper bags, and twisted at the top. I hadn't thought of our "lolly shopping" in years!!

Pop rocks, Gold mine bubble gum, Areo Chocolate bars.

I was more an ice cream fan - use to love Buried Treasure pops or these cone shaped sundaes that had a big bubble gum stuck in the bottom of the plastic cone.

I remember that gum very well! Mom and I were raving about it so Dad asked for a piece. He chewed it a bit, then told us he didn't see what the big deal was... he thought it was pretty tasteless. That's when we figured out he hadn't taken the celophane off first! What a fun memory!

My fav was the Marathon bar. :licklips: We used to go to Ben Franklin's and get candy by the piece. That was a ton of fun! I remember liking the wax soda bottles, pixie sticks and ring pops.
