I thought for sure I would sleep in a little bit today. I heard oldest ds get up at 7:15...I wish I wasn't such a light sleeper.

Anyways, already have the last load of laundry in and catching up the 'puter.

Thinking maybe to go out shopping a bit today. We'll have to see what the day holds.

Has anyone seen the movie "Fat Albert" yet? I might take the kids to see it, but not sure if it is worth it.

Tonight kids are going over to friends house and we are going out with their parents. Looking forward to it. We haven't been out together in such a long time.

Happy Saturday everyone :)

Going skating on the canal today. Had to buy skates last night since I gave away my old ones last year. After that we are taking the kids to McDonalds for lunch. Dh's b and sis are coming for the outing too. Should be fun.
Ds is back to what his sleeping pattern was before Christmas, thank goodness. I don't feel as tired this am as what I have been the last couple of weeks.
Marla, I haven't seen the movie but did love the cartoon as a kid. Have a great time tonight.
Everyone else, have a nice day :)

Picking my mom up a little later and then off to Wal Mart we go. LOL I don't really need anything in particular, but my mom got a bunch of gift certificates to Wal Mart for Christmas and wants to see what she can find. :) We'll probably stop off over at Big Lots and the dollar store and then to McDonalds or to Wendy's (for their chili) for lunch. When I get back dh and I have some errands we need to run and then hopefully after that we'll be home for the rest of the day. I'm SO glad that all the holiday's are all done/over with and we can finally get back into our regular routine.

Anyway... I hope this morning finds you all feeling well. Have a good one!!

Diane...

We have had that happen before, too. There's a rapid test and that doesn't always show the strep instantly - that's why they still send in the longer one. Is she feeling any better? Hope they get her on meds and she is on the mend soon!

Went to bed late and was restless throughout the night. Really hoping for a nap today...boys had hockey this morning and we have nothing the rest of the day that I know of, so it should be possible. :) Old Navy and Bath & Body are having huge sales, so I do want to hit those at some point. :D

Woke up to some new snow on the ground so I dragged dh out to shovel with me. We shovelled all out shared driveway and I did the two decks. Then dh suggested we go do Dad's driveway, so we just go in from doing that.

Going to the hospital today to have cake with Dad for his birthday (Happy 85th Dad). I thought it might be kept small and we could have a larger do with all the grandkids, etc. next weekend if he's out, but apparently sis (the caregiver one), has most of the grandkids coming too. DH will have to miss it since he plays darts on Sat. afternoons, but we'll do something special next week for dinner, if he's out.

Ann, hope your aunt made out well yesterday (((hugs))).

of course, she had been out of school all week, and I finally send her back cause the test was negative and NOW she could still be contagious! grrrrr

It's snowing pretty steadily here. Dh had to go into work for a while to finish some stuff. He's heading out to Florida for a weeklong conference tomorrow .....at least he SAYS it's a conference! LOL I think the timing is a little suspicious. In some ways I am looking forward to some time. This has been a rough couple of months.
Dd2 does have mono. I spoke with the nurse yesterday. I didn't think my questions were hard, but she said she'd have the doctor call me on Monday. Dd is not willing to hear that she can't work or that she has to miss school. I'm telling her to just use some sense---do 17 yos have any?? LOL I'm so happy that she is up to making decisions....I've known people who really got knocked flat by mono. She isn't too bad off at this point.
Other than that, things are pretty (ab)normal around here--busy and never boring. I got sick of waiting for one of the children to clean their bathroom (the tub and surround are gross!), so that's my adventure for the day. I didn't think it'd be fair to pick a name from a hat and make them do it all (dh's idea). They all use it, but maintenance is hotly contested. (Doesn't it seem that children who won't eat food that has been in the refrigerator for 2 days, would be unwilling to shower in a mildew colony? ?( )
Have a good Saturday all.

It's been a different sort of day today. Mom had hand surgery yesterday, so we had her over for breakfast and lunch. She's (already!) chomping at the bit to get her bandage off so she can start doing more. :)

Dh did some more drywalling in our bathroom while the kids and I cleaned out the laundry room. :yippee: I can get to my washer and dryer now without fear of death! Mil's cousin is in town so we dropped in there for a bit to say hello.

Dh is taking dd1 to church to meet up with the youth group. They're going up to Tucson to play broomball, then dd is bringing a friend home to spend the night. Dh needs to make some tapes of sermons while he's there so dd2 and ds1 will rollerskate in the parking lot. Then they're off to the lake to feed ducks. Ds2 was begging for a nap, so he's already in bed, alseep. I'm thinking that sounds pretty good so I'm going to sleep a bit too. I've been so incredibly tired lately. No matter how much sleep I get at night I'm ready for a nap in the afternoon and really wishing for bed around 8:30. Maybe while dh is gone I can get some extra zzzz's.

Dh leaves Monday morning for LI again. He'll be back on the 21st and leave again on the 31st. Somehow I have a feeling they'll be sending him out there more than they'd originally planned. At any rate hopefully all of the travel will be done with by March when production is set up out here!!!

I'm also hoping to get back in the swing of things better with school while he's gone and get into a better housework routine. Things aren't awful (shoot... they're not even bad compared to how it used to be!) but I can feel it starting to slip. Still itching to start exercising again. I guess things got really behind in the cardiology dept. here over the holidays. It could be another week before I get any results from the test. Ugh.

Anyway... this turned into a bit of a book, lol!

Hope your dd feels better soon, Ann!

Happy bday to your dad, Bev!!!!

Bev, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your Dad!!!
Ann, sorry to hear dd does have strep, hope she feels better soon.
Pam, your mom had surgery? Did I miss something? Hope she's doing well.

Well, we dropped a s#%tload of money today. New dishwasher and microwave. My January is lining up to be very busy with the carpet being re-done, dishwasher installed, and b/c the old one leaked on the new laminate flooring, dh has to rip up a bunch of it too. Got dh's family coming for dinner this coming Friday night, so after that, all hell will break loose around here. lol

Started a walk/run program w/dh this morning (am I crazy???). We watched 20/20 last night and those two obese families trying to get healthy and in shape just rang a bell in my head! lol I've let myself gain the weight I'd lost 2 years ago, and that's just stupid. So..... it's back to Tae-Bo and if I can run at least twice a week, I should be off a good start.

I don't think I posted about it. She's doing well. They had to clip a couple of tendons to help give her more range of motion in her fingers. It was outpatient and they didn't even put her under (just gave her goofy juice, lol!). It's throbbing a bit, but nothing Tylenol can't take care of.

Is that the same carpet you've been trying to get them to fix forever??? 8o

Ran errands all morning and even slept in until 7:30. Can't believe it's almost dinner time. Don't even know what I am making. Trying to finish up the laundry. There are a lot of new posts, but I don't have time to catch up now.

Bev- happy b-day to you dad. how's he doing?

Ann- GRRRR about the strep. How's your aunt?

Cathy- hope dd is feeling better soon. Doesn't it take a while to get over mono?

Jen- I'm with you on the gaining weight back and being %*$$#@ about it! GRRR! I gained back all I lost and then some. I'm going to stick with it this time- no matter where we live.

Pam- hope you get your results soon

She's home! She had a horrible night last night with nausea, they had to cath her, but she is doing great now. Walking with a walker (cause of the light headedness) but can move her arm really well. No pain meds. She will go back to the doc next week for the results and the radiation plan. I, of course, have been running all over the internet researching stuff for her!

Ann, sorry she had such a bad time last night. Hopefully another day or two and being home will make her feel better. I'll keep her in my prayers during her treatments. I can remember "coming to" about 2 days after my surgery, didn't realized I'd been in such a fog.

Pam, hope your mom continues to do well. Glad to hear is wans't anything too life threatening.
And yes, hell yes, this is the same damn carpet. They agreed to re-do the entire house and knock off some money from the total. They better hope it's perfect before they leave this time, or it's gonna be free! lol

DS and I watched that episode too. We were so happy to see the weight loss in both families, but just from looking at them, it was hard to "see" the weight off them, individually. I hope both families are keeping it up.

Bev- happy b-day to you dad. how's he doing?

It was funny yesterday when we were in the lounge for his cake. He said to me that he'd better get back to the room because of the doctor comes he won't know where he is. This was after only 20 min. or so. I told him the nurses know where he is and they'll tell the doctor, lol. He's claiming his arm isn't even broken because he can move it a bit now, lol. He had to get another more stable sling for it and he doesn't like wearing it.

Ann, hope your aunt is feeling better.
Bev, glad your dad enjoyed his cake. Hopefully he will be able to go home soon.
Cathy, hope your daughter gets better soon. I know dh had it and was in the hospital as a teen but I had it and it was mild, only fainted a couple times and was real tired but didn't miss too much. Guess each case is different.
Pam, hope your mom's hand is feeling better.
