Does everyone have their base step counts yet? Today is the first day that I am actually well enough to start this. My beginning step count was 3900ish. I am going to shoot for 7000 today.

What are everyone's goals for today?

We don't have a Walmart (yet, it's in progress) so I haven't bought one. I will join you all when I get to our neighbouring city and buy one (hopefully this weekend). My goal will be 10,000, which shouldn't be hard considering the walking I do at work, lol...but we'll see.

Have fun today with your goal, Amy!

My base depends so much on what I do throughout the day. Today I'm not going to Curves or the gym so I'll be able to tell how many steps I take during the course of the day. I'm thinking it's probably less than 4000. I just thought about it and I could go to the gym while the kids are at guitar because it will be too late when get get done to go for a walk. My goal today is to walk at least 7000 steps. Yesterday I was at 7568.

I actually made it to 10,373 and it is 6:13pm. :walkin: It was both easy and hard to do. It helped that I had to do mega grocery shopping and I had to keep criscrossing the store because I kept forgetting items-that trip was 2,000 steps alone. LOL The hard part was walking on my treadmill for 46 minutes. I am used to doing a fast mile under 12 minutes and then doing some pilates and calling it a day. It took a bit of effort after 25 minutes, but I was only at 7600 and I figured I needed to go for it. I like the feeling of accomplishment and having proof! LOL

Actually didn't remember to put my pedometer on today  I definately am having a hard time getting enough steps in when I am at work. I'm hoping to take my running shoes to work tomorrow and maybe on my lunch (if it isn't pouring) go for a walk outside.

I think I'll be able to acheive 10,000 on the weekends, but I'm thinking if I can make it to 7,000 during the week that would be huge

So far today I've made 10 231 steps...almost 4 miles. I think so long as I get out for my walk each day, the 10 000 mark shouldn't be hard to reach. Weekends will probably be less, but now that I have a goal, maybe I can motivate myself!
:walkin:

Marla...I am keeping mine on the nightstand right by my glasses so I remember to put it on.

YEAH!!!!!!!

An extra 15 minutes marching in front of your tv would have put you past 10,000. Try that next time to see if you can push yourself to 10,000. :walkin:

Out of curiosity, how many steps in a mile? (like on the treadmill)

I think it depends on your stride length. They want you to walk ten steps, measure the distance and divide by 10 to get your average length of stride. I think mine is 26 inches. I walked 2.91 miles yesterday and I put on about 6,000 steps.
