Amy's (CO) post about tanning got me curious. Not meant to start any type of debate about who is right or wrong - just curious. Do you tan in the sun? Use a sunless tanner? Do nothing?
I love having a tan - I lay out in the summer and occasionally use a tanning bed.

I usually don't try to tan but if I happen to get some sun I tend to burn. I try to wear sunscreen. Usually forget...

I have always gotten some tanning from doing outdoor activities but for the last couple years I have actually tried to tan some. But I usually burn about once or twice a year because I forget to put on sunblock.
It's kind of hard not to get a tan when you are either at the pool or ball fields everyday!! LOL BUT, I wear an SPF15 moisturizer and foundation on my face everyday, and 30 on my arms and legs.
don't like just lying there, but I tan pretty well out in the yard....I use UV on my face, 15 I think and 25 for the rest of me, or I would be red not brown...LOL......I have a good tan coming on this after noon after my jount yersterday....Love that riding mower....

Do freckles count???
I don't wear sunscreen unless I am going to be outside for an extended amount of time, so I usually end up with a bit of a tan.....but with my light skin, I still look pale even in the middle of summer! LOL
:)
I'm a redhead. I think that says it for me. Even with SPF 45 on my face, my face will still burn, though not as bad as it does without any protection. SPF 15 doesn't help me at all.

I don't tan anymore. If I'm outside, I don't mind if my legs get sun, but I don't like the rest of my body or face to get it.
Just wondering why you guys use a stronger sunscreen on your body than on your face. I always use stronger on my face.

I was told by my dermatologist that you really only need an SPF of 15 for two reasons..with any higher of an SPF you are just getting more chemicals, and SPF15 means you can stay out in the sun 15 hours longer than you could with no protection...there aren't 30 and 45 hours of daylight.
But, that being said..I always feel like I need to put an higher SPF on my body since it is exposed more to the sun, plus my face can't handle higher cause of irritation.

On my face that is. Blocking my body from about October to april would be an exercise in futility, lol!
As a former teenage sun worshipper, I am now religious about shielding my face from the sun. I have had burns so bad on my face it has blistered. I used to use coconut oil and bain de soleil and a reflector!!!
So now I always use and spf and try to wear a hat, particularly at the beach where the sun's rays are magnified by the water.
Always use at least a 15 on my body throughout the warmer months too.
Usually by the end of the summer I am a nice healthy looking shade of tan.
