next Thursday is when I am taking dd to the American Girl store in Chicago.
Any tips? You sort of dress up for the store don't you?

well, I am mean like slacks rather than jeans dressed up. I know they have coat check so we don't have to drag those around.
Well I've never been, but I can't believe how quickly this came up. You'll have a great time no matter how you're dressed, lol.

Wear warm clothes, the wind in Chicago is brutal and expecting snow Fri and Sat. Heavy coats, hats, gloves. I think dressy slacks will be fine for the tea room. Many of the girls wear the matching outfits to their dolls. You are going to have sooooo much fun! Don't forget the silver jewelry store in Watertower Plaza. It is catty-corner to AG if I remember correctly.
She doesn't have any matching outfits, but has a dress that's in that style, so may throw that in.
Any restaurant recomendations?

Have a blast....!!! I loved that store, and I don't even have daughters!! LOL I saw a huge variety of people...including lurkers like me! It was so cool. I'd say you'd be fine in slacks. Is your dd having her doll's hair done at the salon?? That was so cute!! Bring your credit cards...;) .

I bought the 'experience' package, so all the spending money comes with it, so she is going to have to budget! But, when it's gone, it's gone.

You have to have Geno's Pizza at some point. The restaurant I liked most I can't remember the name of!!!! Shoot! It is on Michigan Ave. and has the most beautiful/interesting decor and great food. Oh, this is going to drive me crazy. Ask the consierge(?), I bet he'll know the name if I can't remember. Everyone raved about it.

Brichard prefers Gino's to Due or Uno. I can't find the name of that place! My mom doesn't remember either. I could take you right to it if I was there!! lol

I looked online too!! My mom called again and said she remembered that it is above the Levi's store on Michigan Ave.

Gino's Pizza. I haven't had Giadarno's. Brichard is the bigger pizza fan.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites...scored another winner with her cause they have an indoor heated pool and a cooked to order buffet! ;)

My dd has Kit and I brought home the jeans and AG jacket and t-shirt for her when I was there. Too cute!! :) Ya'll are going to have the best time!
She has Samantha and Kailey. Think they are both making the trip!

Oh how I wish I had known you was going before now!!! I would of met up with you. DD2 would love to go in that store!!! She got her new AG mag. the other day and wants the new doll thats only here for a year. Says it looks like her. LOL It kinda does.Very cute!

I am so excited!!!!!!!!!! DD's best friend and her mom are coming!!!!! We had talked about them coming, but the mom didn't think they would be able to (in fact, when I made my reservations at the hotel, I thought they were so I got the bigger room!) We aren't going to to tell dd. They are on a different flight so they will just walk into the hotel and surprise her!!!!!

DD is going to be 11, but we figured with next year going to middle school, this is probably the last of the interest.
it's funny, all the 'cool' girls come over to play with her dolls, but damned if they would ever admit it!
