I'm a student with NWIC in Early Childhood Education and I'm writing a paper on "Why is curiosity valuable and in important in the learning process?" I was wondering if anyone here would have any ideas they could pass along to me for my paper. I need all the help I can get and it would be much appreicated.
Thanks, Cindy

My 2 year old is very curious. So is his dad. lol
But seriously.
Learning is driven by curiousity. My dh is very intelligent. He loves to learn and has taught himself most of what he knows about computers because he likes to find out how things work.
It is important for people to desire to learn, because after they get out of school they will still have the curiousity to continue.
I also think when you are curious you learn better and retain more of it because you have the disire to learn about the subject.
Parents and teachers can foster this kind of curiousity in their children.
I think it is very important.
It helps children to get excited about learning.
I ask my son questions often during the day to see if he understands or and instill an attitude of wonder and curiousity in him.
On a side note.
You may check out some of the info about Montesorri Schools ( maybe do a search on the internet). (Not sure if I spelled it right.
I found their method of teaching interesting.
While I don't agree with all of their method there are a lot of things I plan to use with my children.
Good luck on your report :)
