Happy Mother's Day! :) My family is taking me out to Old Country Buffet for breakfast this morning. I've never been there for breakfast but everybody tells me I'm in for a real treat so... I'm looking forward to it. Later on we'll be going over to my mom's. Every year for Mother's day we usually have a picnic over at their house but with her having her surgery this year it would just be too much work for her so... I've gotten all of the food prepared and put together and we'll bring everything to her and she won't have to do a thing. :) She got all excited when I told her that we were still going to have a picnic... just fewer people. (my two other sisters had already made other plans with their kids) So... it sounds like a full day for us today. I wanted to find some time to plant my flower bulbs and hopefully I still will but... if not there is always next weekend. :) I hope you all have a wonderful mother's day!!!
Diane...
I know, I've been MIA - sorry! I just had to stop in a wish a Happy Mother's Day to a great group of moms!
I hope everyone enjoys their day whatever they do! Remember, you deserve it! :)
And, Diane, I hope breakfast is great! And the picnic sounds fun :)
Ann, the pool sounds good, too! Not warm enough here for that so enjoy for me, OK?
Angie, thanks for the nice thoughts!

Hope you all have a great day!!
Dh is helping with a Mother's Day Breakfast at church. I think this afternoon the kids wanted to go in and pick out a hanging plant for me to put out on my shepherd's hook in the garden. Ds #1 has been doing the mowing and tilling since dh can't and so we've been paying him a little to do it. He wants to get something he's been saving up for so he has kind of an alterior motive for wanting to go to the store!
Oh yeah, I got a carnation at church this morning!! :)
Father gave a carnation to the oldest and youngest mother at Mass. There was a gal a year younger than me that got the carnation, but after Mass she came up and said "Any mom with that many kids that are so well behaved deserves this." and she handed me the flower. I tried to give it back, but she wouldn't let me. That really made my day!!
Have a great day all!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all, hope everyone enjoys their day, I plan on just having a very relaxing day, so glad to finally have a day at home. I've already had breakfast in bed, even cold porridge tastes great when served in bed by a child!
Linda, what a great compliment, you must feel so good

I found this poem at a link on ideabox.
A Mother's Beatitudes
Blessed is the mother who understands her child,
for she shall inherit a kingdom of memories.
Blessed is the mother who knows how to comfort,
For she shall possess a child's devotion.
Blessed is the mother who guides by the path of righteousness,
For she shall be proud of her children.
Blessed is the mother who is never shocked,
For she shall receive and know confidence and security.
Blessed is the mother who teaches respect,
For she shall be respected.
Blessed is the mother who emphasizes the good and minimizes the bad,
for her children shall follow her example.
Blessed is the mother who answers questions honestly,
For she shall be trusted.
Blessed is the mother who treats her children as she would like to be treated,
For her home shall always be filled with happiness.
Here are some great refreshing treats for moms...

Blueberry Lemon Surprise Muffins
by Wen Zientek-Sico
These muffins are moist and delicious, full of wonderful lemon-blueberry flavor. They are quick and easy to make, and stay fresh and moist for a few days, making them perfect for gift giving.
Ingredients
1 egg
1 cup 2 percent milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 package lemon-poppy seed quick bread mix
1 cup fresh or thawed frozen blueberries
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and grease 12 muffin cups. Beat the egg in a medium bowl. Add the milk and oil and mix well. Add the bread mix and blend until the batter is moistened, but still lumpy. Do not over mix. Fill the muffin cups 1/4 full with the batter. Sprinkle the blueberries evenly in the muffin cups and then top with the remaining batter. Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the top of the muffins. Bake for 17-20 minutes, or until the muffins are firm and the edges are pale golden brown. Cool the muffins completely before packaging in an airtight container.
Makes 1 dozen muffins.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Hope you all have a special blessing today!:)

We've been away at a Christening and house hunting all weekend but it was enjoyable. We opted to stay at the Holiday inn near BIL's house. He doesn't have a lot of room and we have quite a clan to just drop by. (dh, 2 kids, Mil and myself) Mil did stay with them however.
I came out from showering this AM to find my dear family had ordered room service to bring breakfast for us. The kids gave me their gifts froms school. as well as a vase full of Lily of the Valley flowers.
ds made a widhing well from clothes pegs. Inside was a babyfood jar that they had planted forget-me- not's in. It was really cute.
Dd had a decorated wooden trinket box, lined and filled with homemade shortbread cookies. Also very cute.
The best gift was seeing the pride in their faces as I opened each homemade gift.
dh says the gift giving is not over but I will get his later. Hmm, I wonder what he's up to now.
any idea's

I wanted that Avon figurine!!!!! I even tore the page out of the book so dh would get the hint. I guess I'll just have to have my Mom get it for me (she sells Avon).

Ann & Donna,
I can't take all the credit. Dh is a great help in church. Surprisingly we found that they behave better if they don't bring in snacks, cups or toys. (Occasionally a favorite doll or stuffed toy gets to visit.) The girls sit on each side of dh and the youngest ds sits by me.The older boys sit in between. Before we go in we tell them that they have to sit quiet, keep hands to themselves, etc. It also helps that they are older now. We've had some rough times in church before and we're not experts by any means. I think it has also helped that we made ourselves stick it out with them and didn't take them to the cry room everytime.
Kids and church is one of the biggest challenges of parenting I think. I admire anyone who makes the effort to take their kids to church.
Sounds like you all had a good day!! :)

Maybe I should call you a city girl! LOL
Suckers are fish....kids had a blast and caught two in a net. One swam right by dd's legs and totally freaked her out!
(I posted this earlier, but don't know where it ended up???)
