View Full Version : Easter - What do you do? Cook?
Just curious as to what you all do after Church? We still do the baskets, with a bunny for each, and candy.........egg hunt in the yard....candy,
I am making a small ham for just us four this year....quiet easter this year.
We still do a hunt with the cousins! LOL but it's money in the eggs.
Family gets together and we usually cook a brisket, everyone brings sides.

Were invited over to my sister's house. She's making ham, mashed potatoe's and a vetagable and were all bringing something extra to pass. I have no clue what I'm making yet. 8o
:biglaugh: I sitll do an Easter Basket for all my kids AND their dh's/bf's. It's funny how much they still look forward to their stash of candy. :biglaugh: I'm not putting it in a basket's this year, but I bought a bunch of plastic .99 cent bins/covers and put the easter grass/candy in those... popped the lids on and that's it. That way when thiey're done with the candy they can use the bin for something else. For Sarah I bought her a ton of spring/summer clothes with matching socks, a barking dog puppet, bubbles, books, color crayon's/book and drawing tablet for her to scribble in and a stuffed bunny and two suckers.
For the day care kids... I bought them each a sand pail/shovel and will fill those up with easter grass, a few pieces of candy, bubbles, crayons and coloring book, sidewalk chalk, and an Easter cup/straw. I don't like to hand out too much candy... so I think this is plenty. I'd still like to go down and find something for my neices little guy but so far haven't done any shopping for him. :)

We give our dd an Easter basket when she wakes up. Usually has candy, stuffed animal, and DVDs or CDs. This year we are giving her a gameboy game instead of a movie or music.
After church, our entire family goes out to an Easter brunch. Then we head to my mom's house for an easter egg hunt. We stay all day, and then eat dinner at her house.

Always do Easter with my side on Palm Sunday. Eat and do an egg hunt for the kids at my moms. The past few years we have been flying home from FL on Easter, so not sure what we'll do this year - will be nice to just wake up at home and let kids gets their baskets on the actual day. Will also do an egg hunt at home for them and plan to put more $$ than candy in the eggs.

This year we will wake up at home and do an indoor hunt and have baskets for the kids. Then we will go to my mom's and she will also have baskets and an outdoor hunt. She only does baskets for the grandkids now. Lunch is always ham, ham sauce (mustard & horseradish, etc.) a family tradition.
Brichard's parents have always done baskets/egg hunt for the kids but they won't be back from Florida yet. I'm really looking forward to only getting to go to one other place. We will go to church on Saturday night.

After the Christmas debacle this past year, (I got 3 exhausted children back from their Dad late Christmas day so they could open presents with me - it was their 4th Christmas that day) I'm putting my foot down and the boys and I are staying home this Easter. I'll have their baskets for them when they wake up. We'll go to church, then back home for lunch. That's it. No traveling, no splitting the day, no stress. I'll make a ham myself, but other than that, I'm not sure. Any great ideas? I always make a green bean casserole, and rolls.....guess sinful potatoes would be good. Some type of dessert.

We usually go to my moms. do the family egg hunt thing with all the kids from town at the local park. (egg hunt, Rubber duck races, Easter bunny photos, pony rides, face painting etc.) The kids have their own egg hunt at home too. We usually go to church Sat. night for the Easter Vigual. Not sure what we are doing this year. Likely the same thing. Still have to get basket fillers..... shopping, shopping, shopping...

Wanted to stay home but found out dinner is at sil's. Not bad, she lives about a half hour away. At least it's not over night anywhere or this place and that like Christmas was. I'm not sure if she's doing turkey or ham so I still need to call and ask what to bring.
Kids have to look for their baskets, we don't hunt for eggs though. Too wet outside and I was never fond of finding a choc. egg that rolled out from the frige or stove ages after Easter and seeing a kid pick it up. Yuck. lol
The Easter bunny usually brings bike accessories, novelty stuff and a little chocolate. I'd rather see them get stuff they can use.
