8o Oil of Oregano. Two drops on your tongue and voila! You can breathe again. It has a zing to it, but man, it's worth it! It helped break up the congestion in my chest and nose and stopped the sneezing and runny nose. I like it that it doesn't have the side effects of Sudafed and whatsuch. I got mine at GNC, but you could probably get it at any health food store.

I'm searching now to see what the dosage is (if it's okay) for children so I can try it with ds2. He won't like the taste, but if it'll help I'll give it to him. Thought those of you suffering with colds and the kids with croup right now might benefit.

Edited to add: It says not to give it to children under age 10. Bummer. Since I found that guideline on three different sites I'll go with it.

How did you hear about it? I've never heard of it before. 8o I'm going to have to remember this the next time we get a bad cold. Thanks for the tip!

Diane, a friend of mine swore by it a few years ago, saying that it completely knocked out her chronic sinus infections. I'd almost forgotten about it till this cold hit.

Thanks for the link, Vea... I requested the sample teas. :)

I don't like bad-tasting things, but if it's only 2 drops, it would be ok. Thanks for the tip!

HOLEY CRAP!!!! that stuff is terribly expensive... 8o 8o I went to GNC to get some, along with something else I needed, (that was only $9.00) and was shocked when they told me my total. $30.00 for a TINY little bottle??? 8o Maybe I'm cheap but... I told them to forget it. :) I'm going to look around to see if I can find it cheaper somewhere else. LOL (I need it now that I'm getting a cold... LOL)

I looked at Walmart and they didn't have it.

Twenty dollars sounds like a lot, but if you think about it it works out pretty good. You only use a few drops a day and with something like Sudafed or Niquil you'd end up spending a lot more for the same number of doses.

You might try looking online though to see if anyone else has it for a better price.

Actually... it came to $31.95. After the bad night I had I broke down and went and got some this morning. :) You weren't kidding about the zing it has, WOW! My nose is still a little stuffed but you're right about it not running, plus my chest/throat feels 100% better. Thanks so much for posting about it. :)

I'm so glad it worked for you! Yikes... $31.95 IS a lot! 8o It's only $20 here at GNC. The nice thing is, you'll still have some left next cold season! :D Mom's actually expired about six months ago and is still working fine.
