View Full Version : What's for dinner tonight?
I think dh and I are feeding the kids early and then ordering take-out for a living room date. :) We are in such a rut (again/as usual) with dinner. I'd love to start using the crockpot again, especially since summer is coming and I hate cooking then even more than usual because of the heat. Does anyone have any fav crockpot recipe books or websites? I've tried the southernfood one, but it is soooo stinkin' slow!
While we're on the subject of food... what veggies do ya'll like in your spaghetti sauces? My fav is mushrooms and zucchini, but any more veggies I could sneak in for the kids would be great!
I like the book Fix It and Forget it....allrecipe, recipegoldmine
it really depends if am doing a primavera. I will saute brocolli, zuchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, onions and a litttle olive oil, garlic and butter and toss it over noodles. In red sauce, no veggies.
Tonite, we are having baked talipia, steamed brocolli and mushrooms and a tossed salad with artichokes, tomoatoes, red peppers and onions.
We are haivng spaghetti. Don't add any veggies to the sauce.
I use my crock pot all the time. There are some good recipes on the recipe forum.

I had a salad with chicken on it.
The OAMC ladies recommend grinding up carrots in your spag sauce and the kids won't even know it's there.

Last night was sloppy joes. Tonight, soup for me or something soft (had wisdom tooth taken out last night) and whatever we have for warm ups for everyone else. Easy cooking night tonight.
I have to hurry up and go looking for crockpots. We bought half a cow and will have roasts in there so I want to try the crockpot.
Carrots are good for hiding is spaghetti. I like spinach in it but they can see it, just say it's spices if you chop it really small. I buy pre-made sauce with it already in there. I've never tried it (hadn't had this thought until now) but maybe add a cup of v-8 juice and I can't see them noticing a difference in taste if you have the other stuff in it. I think next time I'll try that and see how it goes.

I was thinking about making some spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread, but not sure yet. I guess it depends upon how hungry dh is going to be. :)
Diane...
Just put a roast in the crockpot with carrots and mushrooms. Gonna saute some aspargus to go with it.
What we have for dinner tonight depends on whether or not I go grocery shopping today! Maybe just burgers on the grill.

Uno Pizza, Brichard drove to get one this morning.
I'm making Ann's tortelleni recipe with the mushrooms, spinach, red pepper, etc. Throw in some garlic bread and that's it.
I love that recipe, by the way. I've made it several times just to take for lunch. It's quick and easy.

I have no clule, but I'd better come up with something pretty soon. If it were just me, I'd probably eat nothing or just open up a can of soup... but dh will probably be hungrier than that. Maybe I'll just make him a chicken breast and baked potato... not too sure though. Actually... I just wanna go to bed and totally skip dinner. :( LOL

Think we're having breakfast. LOL! Waffles, sausage, strawberries, and whatever else I whip up.
