My husband and I have decided to get divorced. Many of you have read about it and given me feedback. Well I have been to 2 different lawyers, 1 wanted 2500 dollars out of me the other said my husbands papers sounded fair. Just get him to make a few changes. He surprised me by paying 2 months worth of a bill he said he would pay. Now I feel like I am the creep and he is the hero! I am having to live at home with my mom to save up money and work all the time, I am lonley and upset. Does it seem like good people always end up with the bad end. I loved this guy and now I feel like just giving up on what he should owe me. I could have gone out on a blind date this past weekend but didn't because I didn't want to look bad. He has just blown me out of the water! He called me last week and was very nice sounding, why are are men so two faced? Maybe a friend of mine is right, maybe I should be more b******. I don't know where I will teach this fall and I am scared, I don't even look forward to the break from school. Am I losing my mind?

Honey, I was where you are 20 years ago and I had a new baby to boot. I was on food stamps and public assisstance. I wallowed in self doubt for a few months til I realized that would not feed my child. So I pulled myself up by the boot straps, put my "butt" back in college, earned a degree, and began teaching. It was not until I had "me" taken care of that the good Lord led me to my dh.
You've made your decision and I don't think you need to start second guessing yourself. Don't feel like a creep, because you're not. Don't become a b****, because you're not. Hold you head up high, demand what is rightfully due you and accept nothing less, take stock of where you are right now, be thankful that you have a place to stay where you can save money, decide what you want, and then take the steps necessary to get you there. Dena it will not happen overnight, but you will get through this ordeal and come out on the other side a much stronger and happier person. As a teacher you should know all about "self-fulfilling prophecies".
I know you are scared, but you have your mom, you have your friends, and you have us.

Listen to Kat, Dena!!! Don't loose confidence in yourself. This is a very difficult situation to go through but you are going to make it. Keep sending out those resemes for teaching positions. Is there any other type of work you are interested in? Perhaps taking a couple courses over the summer will help get you started.
