I am new to THE IDEA BOX and wondering if it is a forum that is well attented
I have a general question for you:
I am planning our annual year-end concert for our preschoolers and hoping to find some new innovative songs for the kids to learn.

How funny. We are doing our spring concert with my 4 yr old preschool class next week.
This was a new one to me and too cute:
THE PEANUT SONG
A peanut sat on a railroad track, (one thumb up)
his heart was all a flutter. (pat heart)
around the bend, (make a circle in the air)
came number 10, (hold up 10 fingers)
toot toot! (pretend to blow train whistle)
SQUISH! (clap hands together)
peanut butter!! (open hands, palms up)
Of course there is BINGO, 5 Little Ducks, Yankee Doodle, I'm a Little Groundhog is cute if you know that one. Oh! This is cute:
I've something in my pocket (pat pocket), it belongs across my face (draw up mouth with fingers into a smile), I keep it very close to me (hug yourself), in a most convenient place. I bet you'll never guess it if you guess a long, long while (wagging finger) .... (speaking) so I'll take it out, put it on (sing) it's my nursery school smile!
Hope that helped. Have fun at your concert!

We are having our Preschool graduation this Thursday. I think the songs are the hardest to figure out because if they sing without music, it's hard to hear them and if you have music sometimes all you hear is the music and not the kids' voices.
Anyway--we are singing the family version of Thumbkin--each finger is a family member (mommy, brother, daddy, sister and the pinky finger is the pet dog) Each finger has it's own unique voice too.
We're also doing Turtle Tim
I have a little turtle
His name is Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathroom to see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
And ate up all the soap
Now my little turtle has a bubble in his throat
URP--excuse me!!
We are singing a song off a compilation children's CD called : Climb on your bicycle.
They are also doing "Shake your sillies out" by the Wiggles and then asking the parents & guests to do it with us.
Good luck!!
