My 2 children have both glasses. Youngest are 4 and wear glasses +6 and bifocals. Oldest are nearsigted and wear contacts -3 and glasses -4.
Do your kids wear glasses or contacts, and how strong a prescription do they have. Any children with bifocals?

Welcome to the board! :) My children don't have glasses yet, but I had them by age 6, contacts by age 11. At some point (seems like 6th grade) I was in bi-focals, but it wasn't long. I can't remember what the correction was at those ages but the optometrist told my parents that if they didn't put me in contacts to slow down the deterioration of my eyesight I'd be blind by age 16. They did help to slow things down. I'm legally blind without correction now, but at least glasses still work for me. Thankfully my children seem to have inherited dh's eyesight!

I have 2 sons that wear glasses (ages 16 & 19) and have since a very young age. they got there 1st pairs of glasses at 3 months and 6 months of age. they have been through bifocals and trifocals and by age 7 finally got into a single lens. their prescriptions are +9 and +10 currently. their opthamologist says they are not good canidates for lasik surgury.(they couldn't do surgury untill eyes are fully developed 19-23)He says there best option is early cateracts because then they would implant a lens and they won't do this unless removing cateracts. Older of the 2 decided he wanted contacts however with vision this bad soft contacts are not an option. So he had to get hard contacts he can't stand them i paid a small fortune for them and he has never been able to get used to them because he says they are so thick they hurt his eye lids. I believe both of these children inherited their vision from their grandmother because i have 2 other children ages 20-21 and they have perfect vision.
