Seems our rain has finally stopped after 4 days of downpour. It is a long weekend here so we are hoping the sun comes out and stays awhile.
No school here today, inservice day right in the middle of the week! Already got my workout in and the girls are deep into make believe land with their new dollhouse.
Hope you all have a good mid week!
Morning!! Going to be 90 here today, and the mosquitoes are ferocious!! Gonna be a long summer! LOL
Not much on, have a meeting tonite for ds' Washington DC trip.
Glad you've finally got some sunshine Kathy! We've been lucky with any rain holding off this week, whch is good cause we are having main floor windows installed today. DS has a ball game tonight. I'm looking forward to our long weekend and our neighbourhood/community is having fireworks in the park on Saturday night...should be fun!
Have a good day all!

I've GOT to get to the grocery store today. DH is threatening to call groceryworks.com! I'm also recovering my kitchen chairs. Anyone have any tips? It's not coming out as smooth on the edges this time. Maybe I got the padding too thick. Also the staples aren't going in all the way. Dh bought an electric stapler and I'm using 1/2" staples.

Donna...are you putting in new padding or just covering over the old seats? Have you tried hammering in the nails to finish off? Also pull really tightly do a couple on one side, turn over and do the whole other side, then come back to the first side. Do the same thing with the two other sides. For the corners it's almost like doing hospital corners on beds. Good luck...hope this made some sort of sense!!!

I'm putting new padding and fabric on. The old stuff was disgraceful!! Your directions made sense - I'll try that, thanks!
Hi all! Cold and rain here - ick. I'm just glad I have a minute to say hi! :)
I hope everyone's doing great. Just busy here. There seems to be so much going on this month - right up til the last day of school (June 5th). My summer is looking busy, too! I think I'm learning what other moms have told me...the older they get the more you run!
Anyone see the runaway train story on the news last night? That was scary thing. Thankfully it was not close to me, but still! It definitely makes a person think. I can't imagine a big on train just running on the loose.
Enjoy your Wednesday whatever it finds you doing! :)

Another nice day today. They've predicted rain for the last few nights and we haven't gotten a drop. It's LOOKED like rain but nothing, which is okay with me. I don't mind a little bit of rain but when it drizzles on for day's on end... it just gets to be a little but too much!!! LOL
My oldest dd will be graduating from nursing school tonight... so we've got that to go to. Then Thursday night they have a "pinning" ceremony and then she'll be all done. She's got to take her boards, which won't be for about another two months or so... but I'm sure she'll do just fine. She's been getting A's in just about all of her tests and she aced her clinicals... so I don't see a problem. Of course, SHE'S nervous... but that's pretty normal. She's got a lot of time to study before she has to take them so... I'm sure she'll have her nose buried in books for the next two months. LOL
One of my dk mom's brought her ds with his NEW bike today... It's MUCH too huge for him AND she forgot to bring his helmet, then went on to say that it was okay... she didn't think he'd need it. After she left he told me that when he got on his bike last night he smashed right into a tree! He told me that he has a hard time reaching the mechanisms on the handle bar's for the breaks. Ugh!!!!! That sounds reassuring... NOT! I'm sure that if I don't allow/let him ride it she'll be more than a little bit angry at me but I'm VERY reluctant to let him ride it around any of my little kids. Heck, if he slammed into a TREE what's stopping him from smashing into my little ones? I HATE it when parents do this... (sorry, not meaning to offend anybody) but just venting a little bit. I HAVE bikes for them here... I sure wish they wouldn't bring any from home. Okay... I'm over it now!!!! LOL Thanks for listening. I feel MUCH better now. :) LOL LOL LOL
Hope you all have a GREAT day!!!

Sunny and hot here! Dks played in the sprinkler most of yesterday afternoon and it was difficult getting them back in the house. Today I think I'll attempt to get naps in first. LOL We have a end of the year picnic to go to for youngest ds's class tonight. Should be fun! :)
Donna - Good luck with your chairs!
Rae - Missed the runaway train story. What happened? :nervous:
Have a good day everyone!! :)

We must have been posting at the same time. Congrats to your dd! What an exciting time for her (and you)! :yippee: And, I know what you mean about the bike story. :tearhair: I don't think I'd let him ride it today either. Good luck!!
Congrats to your dd, Diane!!!
OK..maybe I don't understand the story, but how can a train on TRACK going 20 miles an hour be all that dangerous??? It's not like it's going through the streets..the train signals at crossings were still working...I really just don't get it. I mean, it's not good to have a train going around driver less but how was it all that dangerous???
had chinese food last night and then passed out around 10:30 pm. couldn't seem to drag myself out of bed, so dh got kids up and showered and ds off to school, I finally dragged myself into the shower at 8:30 am....which is really late huh..... dd is playing with her fischer price doll house, and I am busy here on the puter catching up :computer: sunny here today, but really windy.... :dazed: guess we will go outside later, but the bugs here are still bad.... I am doing everything I can to keep them off of me, and I am still getting bit..... :bigcry: ankels, elbows and fingers, I guess they like my joints....
going to catch up here, and then do some light cleaning.... :oink: we are little piggies here today....
Have a great one all.....
And Congradulations to you daughter Diane.....way to go..... :happydnc:
Dd is running a fever so we're stuck in the house, and it's such a beautiful day :( Dh is finally done with school for the year so hello summer vacation, I'm getting a little burnt out doing the single mom thing. God Bless and help all of the single parents out there it's incredibly difficult. Guess I'll have to clean house since we're stuck inside.
I always let my dd or ds outside when they have a fever. I give them some Motrin and let let soak in the fresh air and sun. It always makes them feel better.
Congratulations Diane & Daughter! I'm sure mom had something to do with this :D
Now, the train story.... A train in NW Ohio took off by itself...no one on board. They now think the brakes failed. It was a 37 car train, hit speeds of 55mph and carried combustible material. The potential for serious trouble was there as it went through populated areas. They tried various ways to stop it and finally did when it slowed down going up hill and a brave guy jumped on and got the brakes. Sounds like a movie story.

Not much happening here today, I have a pile of housework to finish off before tomorrow night. FIL is comming to help dh with the roof on the weekend. It is cool and cloudy and we are supposed to get scattered showers over the next few days. Hopefully it won't happen much because of the roof.
We had t-ball last night, 5-pitch tonight and t-ball again tomorrow night. I'm running out of time to get things done and here I am typing. LOL
Congrats to your daughter Diane.
SMB, hope your dd's fever goes down.
Have a good afternoon all. :)
Really heating up here. I had morning duty and it was already very hot and sticky. Heat, humidity, and possible thunder showers just in time for 2 outdoor graduations this week. Can't wait.
When the boys run a fever I give them meds and they take off, but dd never responds very well to medication. I've tried just about everything and she still runs a fever with chills for at least 24 hours. She's sitting on the couch now with a fever of 102, headache, and chills and she just looks miserable. :( I'm actually the same way so at least I know where she gets it from.

Thanks for the full story about the train... I had heard "something" about a runaway train but hadn't heard the full story. I'm glad that they were able to stop it in time... wow!

Hi all! Beautiful weather here.....windy, but I have clothes on the line, so the wind is a good thing.
I am supposed to be going through the house getting things set aside for a yard sale, but this place keeps drawing me in!
Off to a bike auction tonight....the RCMP auction off all bikes that have been turned into them and gone unclaimed. Hoping to find one for ds....oldest dd wants a new one too (she has a boys bike.
Congrats to your dd Diane!

Beautiful day here today. Let's hope the weather man on tv is wrong and we don't get the rain tomorrow. I'm suppose to be taking my class to a local park and petting zoo. They will be very dissapointed if we have to reschedule.
I have the house to myself again. Dh is out of town again. Getting ready for the big transfer as of June 4th. He will be staying with bil during the week and home on weekends until things get settled. dk's are both gone to mil's for the night. Their school is going to the Toronto Zoo tomorrow and she has agreed to go along as chaprone. She offered to keep them for the night and take them to school in the morning. How could I refuse. A night of silence. Gonna sit back, have a relaxing soak in the tub, see if there is anything interesting on the tv. just relax.

Well I got the kitchen chairs recovered and ds promptly spilled Kool-aid on his. Grrrrrrrr!!!! Why do I even bother? Fortunately it was watered down lemonaid flavored Kool- aid.
SMB - Motrin doesn't work on your dd? I love that stuff!!!
Motrin does not work all the time for dd. Today I gave her motrin at 6:30, tylenol at 9:30, motrin again at 12:30 etc throughout the day. her fever finally came down at about 2:30. Then came back at about 6:30. I always have to piggy back the meds for her and even doing that doesn't always help. Both my boys are always up and running 20 minutes after some motrin. She is sleeping now with no fever so hopefully she'll be up and around tomorrow.:)
