I am so ticked off at the post office. I sent three boxes on April 12 to my brother. They were full of baby items and he recieved two of them within days of each other about a week and a half after I sent them. The third box never got there. When I sent them I didn't know I could have paid an extra dollar to get a tracing number put on the boxes and no one at the post office asked me if I wanted it or told me about them. So how am I supposed to ask if I don't know they are available? I thought as long as I had a reciept from the cash register I would be okay but apparently not. I have called customer service twice and they say they cannot do anything to help me but each time I called they did check undeliverable mail office and found nothing. They just keep saying that without a tracing number they are sorry but nothing can be done. This box was full of baby bottles and sippy cups and bedding my mother made for my son. I was passing it along but wanted it kept in the family. If I knew the post office was going to lose it I would have kept the bedding. I could've cried I was so upset about the bedding my mom made for my oldest. And my brother didn't buy any bottles because I had so many of them to send off. GRRR!
Thanks for letting me vent. And if you ever send anything through the mail, ask for a tracing number.

Melody...... that really stinks!! I had a similar situation once where I sent my family out of state a Christmas package, it was HUGE, and they managed to misplace it for a whole month. How they ever lost a box that large was beyond me! I was beginning to get frustrated that no one thanked me for their gifts, so finally I asked if they liked them, and my stepmonster said they never received them. I did not know about the tracking number at that time either, and as with you, they told me there was nothing that could be done. Good Luck, maybe they will show up!!

What a huge bummer!!!! :( Hopefully somehow it will show up. When I send anything of importance or value I usually send thru UPS because they can track everything. Not to say things still can't happen because they do, but I always feel a little more secure. If it helps any, my dh sent out summer camp letters last month. One lady called this week saying she just got hers, so maybe there is some hope. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I have a friend who just sent books to her family in one state and dh's family in another state. Neither one received their books. The post office said they are probably sitting in an empty bag somewhere. They will probably be found, but it may be a year from now.

I hope they find your box!!

I'm so sorry this happened, but don't give up hope! I've had things "delay" awhile and then reappear. Let us hope that happens for you!

I hope it shows up! I've gotten very frustrated with the post office as well. They damaged some CDs sent to me and told me it was my problem! One lost birth certificate and a lost registration on the truck, more lost packages than I can even count. Anything I send to my family, I send UPS.

I do have to say that this post office here is one of the best two I've ever dealt with. They have signs up about the Delivery Confirmation. Usually I talke my boxes up and say this is what's in it - what are my options? Since moving here I haven't had a single item disappear. I think most of the problem is individual post offices. In CA half of the post office employees were very difficult to understand. I'm not 100% they could all read English.

BTW - not to upset you but the post office has begun selling undelivered items via eBay. I only heard that once on the radio so it may have been special circumstances. The announcer was laughing because the *lot* was a couple of bras but they didn't list the size!

Thanks guys. I do feel a bit better being able to vent.
Lynda, I am so suprised that the post office puts up stuff on e-bay but I guess they do have to do something with unclaimed items eventually.
I called my brother and told him to check at the post office again. I really hope it turns up while the baby is still a baby so they can use this stuff! lol

We had that happen with a parcel that was sent to us from bil one time. He sent a gift for dd's first b'day. It never arrived and after many chats with the post office, and months of waiting we gave it up as gone. About a year and a half later a parcel arrives for dd from bil, but the return address was not his current one. We thought maybe he was just going sinile and put the wrong one on. When we opened it , we were surprised, to find a darling little yellow dress and b'day card to my dear niece on her first birthday. She has it packed away in her special truck of memories. She says when she grows up and has a little girl she can wear it.

I am so sorry that you had this happen. I had it happen to me once too, and the box did show up. my mom sent me a box through the mail. We received all of them within a week. The last one took over a month, but it did get here. Somehow it hadn't been sent priority or insured and the others had. Could this have happened to you?

What a bummer!! I've sent many things through the mail and I've never had ANY problems with anybody not receiving their packages. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that they receive the package real soon... Let us know!

What a shame. My entire family lives within 30 miles so I never have to send packages through the mail.
