I usually throw mine in the washing machine but I have one pillow that is better than the rest and the machine kept stopping. I had to stand at the machine and keep turning it on again. My mom told me to do it by hand and squeeze it out and let it dry outside. But that just sounds like more work than it's worth than a pillow! Maybe I'm just lazy today. lol Also, wouldn't it defeat the purpose of washing it if I had to put it outside to dry?

Hi Mel. I always throw ours in the washer and then on the line to dry. I love the smell of line dried laundry.
Why do you think it would defeat the purpose if you line dried the pillows?

Are these bed pillows you are talking about?? The ones you sleep on?

If so, throw them away and buy new ones every six months. They get full of dust mites and dead skin cells. If you have allergies you shouldn't dry your pillows outside because they fill up with pollen and allergins.

This is what my "neat freak" friend tells me anyway!

I like to sleep with a feather pillow and replacing them every 6 months can get mighty expensive. Can they be washed? If so , how??

I just toss mine in the washer and hang them out to dry in the sun too. When I had the smaller washer, I would just take them, as well as heavier quilts and comforters to the laudry mat and use one of their super size machines. Then bring them home ond hang them out.

Mil has feather pillows, she takes them to a dry-cleaner once in awhile for cleaning.

Darlene, I would just assume that laying out in the sun (I have no line) they would get all dusty. I guess if I found a way to hang them up it would be okay.

 Karla.

They just seemed to be flat and dull and I figured they probably were dusty inside of them. Once in a while I replace them with new ones but this one is the one I liked the best and ds spilled a bit of juice on it. I finally got it dry but it took a few rounds in the dryer.
