I am letting the boys have an end of school year party/sleepover. It's on Tuesday and one invited 6 and the other 7 kids. The good thing is the boys asked to sleep in the play house. Dh and I are going to set the tent up and then we can supervise close by all night. Ds1 offered to sleep in the bottom level and the others in the top. Dh and the boys slept out there last year and dh ran some rope lights out there and that worked well. Any tips to make it a success? We do plan on the boys swimming so I hope that along with just running around and playing in the yard I won't have to plan on much for organized stuff. I still plan a couple of game ideas involving water. It certainly beats them both inviting over 20 kids like they were talking about a couple weeks ago.
I am kind of worried about one little boy. I really doubt he can make it through the night without crying for his mom. His first time playing here he cried for her because he missed her. It was so cute when he called her. Do I tell him to come see me if he wants to call her or keep my mouth shut and hope for the best? That day he didn't say anything to me, just cried and told ds he wanted to go home.

You're a better mom than I!
I would suggest each of the boys bring a flashlight so they could play light tag.
Oh and how about finding some of those glow stick braclets/necklaces? Bet they would love those.
Have fun!

I wouldn't say..."if you need to call mom," I'd say... "This is where I'll be if you need me." Sounds like great fun. The flashlights will be a hit. You can get 2 with batteries for $3 @walmart. Well, at least here you can! lol We have also done the rope lights! Be sure to plan for rain and them all coming in!
The water games are perfect, but I've found w/ds's big sleepovers not to plan anything else cuz they just play and wrestle around.
The toughest part for me is keeping all their different things organized so pick up is easy for the parents, and me!
Sounds like fun. You're not as nuts as I was a few years back. Ds birthday is in Feb. but he always wanted a swimming party. So one year we booked 2 rooms at a local motel with an indoor pool and invited 6 of ds' closest friends. Dh got to be the one to stay overnight and chaperone. They ordered pizza and had a grand old time.

Darlene, I never would have thought of that! Thank you so much. The dollar store will have all that. If no flashlights, yes Angie, we get the packs for the same. The orange and purple ones. lol Good idea about the rain. I figure we might have some younger ones wanting to sleep inside because they are afraid or whatever. If that's the case we have the living room and the rec room downstairs.
Kat, that sounds like fun. Both older boys have cold weather birthdays so I will have to keep that in mind for future. What a blast that would be.
Thanks gals! :)

Sounds like a lot of fun. If you are crazy, then I guess I am too.
dd and ds are having their classmates over for a pool party next Sat. (A Schools out/Canada Day party) The plan was to have parents come later in the evening for fire works (everyone chipped in a few dollars to purchase them). Hopefully we can still do this, but with the extreme heat and water restictions, it may have to be put on hold. So far things look ok.
They both have fairly small classes compared to the public school in town, ds (14 classmates, dd 13 classmates) so shouldn't be too bad.

Ryleigh, that is a small class. Have fun with your party, we did a pool party last year and it was great. Nice idea about the fireworks. Hopefully the restrictions will be off and the kids get to enjoy them.
