Coolest Dad in town...

My husband went to our ds's school with all his Fire Fighting gear and did this demonstration for the kids. He was so great! He started out in his jeans, and explained all the gear as he went along, telling them that if they're ever in a fire they'd see this and hear that and how the Fire Fighters are there to help them and not to be afraid of them. He showed all the kids the different gear, how it works and answered their questions.

When he was done Tristan came running up and gave him a huge hug and a kiss. Made my heart sing!

I had called the station down the street from the school, and they came by and let the kids check out/climb on the fire truck. Very fun. They divided the kids up into groups of four, and each group went with a different Fire Fighter. Well, it turned out that this one group was 3 girls, one boy, and they were with the one female Fire Fighter. One little girl looked up at her and said "Are you a Fire Girl?" Adorable.

We have been insanely busy, and I have hardly had time to see what's going on around here, but this was so cool I just wanted to share.

I love it when the Dad's come to school and share or read. So many of my kids don't have Dad's at home.

How cool... your ds must have been SO proud of his daddy! Every year (during Fire Prevention week) I arrange for the fire station to bring their truck out to my house. They talk with the kids about the same exact things that your dh talked with your ds's class about. They let the kids check out the fire truck and then they give the kids a ride!!! The kids LOVE it... It's so nice that your dh took the time to do this. :)

Kat, I think you are right on when you said that about the dads. Doug gets practically mauled at the park because some of these kids are so hard up for father figures!

I think your dh is wonderful to go to the school and tell them about his job, so many parents are so busy now a days....I bet your kids were proud...
