Well, I guess since I'm up I'll start today's thread. I'm keeping dgbs again today. Hopefully I won't have to keep them until 8 like yesterday. My house is a disaster. Honestly I don't know how I managed to keep house with two kids. Well, now I really didn't have 2 little ones. Mine are 9 years apart. Man is it work! I now know why you have kids when you're young. It was such a good feeling to take them home yesterday and not have to worry about that 2:00 feeding.
Anyway, my day will be played by ear. It's going to be so stinking hot and humid today. Supposed to be 100. It's been hazy for days with ozone warnings in the cities. Yesterday was a little better about the haze. May try to take the kids to the park this morning before the heat hits.
Well, I need to get dressed and get more coffee before the kids get here. Have a good day all.

Morning!
Thought I was ready to get up butI think I'm going back to bed...
No plans....Maybe just veg..My stomach has been acting up ...so I'm just going to take it easy.
DS was supposed to play in a tournament today, but he was too tired. We are selling one of our townhouses, so dd and I (and I may just drag ds out of bed) are going over to clean it....such a fun day!

Good morning!! Drizzly here today. We're off later to see the Herbie movie w/friends, then dd is getting her hair cut off. :) / :bawling:
Mixed emotions about that, but we made a deal after dance was over, it was getting cut OFF. lol
Kat, have a good time with the kids!

We had a wicked storm last night. It was very intense, but thankfully short. Lots of branches down, but nothing major that I know of......
I did lose my computer. Strange--2 of my dds have all their stuff intact, but my desktop was just wiped out. No problem except for my email! :bawling: :bawling: I had links to other places I lurk, and some addresses that I should have backed up. Maybe someday I'll learn. Dh will be called on again to set me up. He may even be able to retrieve my address book. He MAY even spin me some straw into gold!! :* :thumb: But if he can't, I'll need to nag a couple of you for addys......Sorry in advance.
I'm up early to go to Curves. Thought I'd check in before I head out the door. Busier day today than yesterday. I have my new little one, one of my regular drop ins and a 3 yr old for a friend who is at Disneyland. I have her dc 3 yr old 2 days this week and 3 days next week while she's on vacation. I had an interview yesterday for a 2 yr old little boy. I liked the parents and the little boy. The mom seemed to really want her little boy to come here and told them to let me know by tomorrow night. He wouldn't start until August as his mom is going to be going to school.
Tonight the kids have guitar and I have a few errands to run. Nothing too exciting.
Made a rhubarb/custard pie last night for one of dh's uncles and dropped it off at MIL's this a.m. Work today. Hot YES!!! Have a BBQ for lunch at work. Dinner at Dad's and I've got a roast in the crockpot at home. DS spent the night at a friend's last night.

Morning all! Last day of school for me! :yippee: The kids have the day off and then go tomorrow morning to pick up report cards.
Ds finished yesterday...he and I are headed to the city tomorrow on the VIA with my mom. I haven't been on a train for 30 years, so looking forward to the trip.
Cool and supposed to rain today. Big weekend in town with the fair and Countryfest and the weather is forcast to smarten up. The girls want to go to the fair, and ds is going up to Countryfest with my mom. He is looking forward to seeing Paul Brandt...he even has a black cowboy hat to match his!
Here is the link.... http://www.countryfest.mb.ca/
Found out dd has a horrendous teacher for next year and we are looking into getting that changed. It would mean changing the instrument she plays in band from a flute to a saxophone. The classes are made up according to what instrument you play. Have been checking out ebay to see what we could round up.
Best get to work!
:)
Bev - Yesterday I baked with rhubarb too! Made 2 matrimonial cakes and a bunch of muffins, also cut up about 40 cups of the stuff for in my freezer too!
And the guy who dropped it off wanted to know if I wanted more! uh Thanks, but NO!!
Kat - know what you mean about wondering how we managed with our kids, I love dgd, but I am happy to see her mommy pick her up. Yesterday I took her to the dr. and he was saying oh, you are young enough to be her mom, lots of moms start late. I really don't know how they do it! I too am glad I had mine young.
Another rainy day here, I really would love to be able to get out for a walk more than 1 day a week, but we are suppose to have sun by the weekend.
Have a good day all

We are going to the free movies this morning. Moving kind of slow here since I decided to take the kids to my mom's for dinner last night impromptu. We didn't get back into town until close to midnight. Her new house is just beautiful, she is listing her old one tomorrow. I wish I had her new kitchen!
When I was at my mom's we went through some old pics, pre Brichard pics. My ds looked at me and said wow mom, what happened to you. Real nice!! lol
Anyway, after the movies I don't know what we'll do. I hope it's not going to be so stinky hot today.

Busy day planned here. Have already cleaned up some. The kids made the house a disaster with uno cards. lol Well, more like ds3. Most tidying is done, have to make sure all the laundry is caught up and the towels clean in case some kids forget to bring one. It's amazing how many towels we go through in the summer time. The boys are very excited about the party/sleepover. They need to clean the playhouse as soon as they come home if they are going to sleep in it. I know the bottom level isn't too bad, it's the top that really needs attention. Have everything we need, even found flashlights at wal-mart for 97cents last night. Dh is coming home early to give me a hand. Hazy but hot here and muggy. Sun is supposed to peek out at some point.
Hope you all have a great day :)
Mel, are you feeling better today?
Melody

Yes, thank you for asking Bev. I'm so glad that whatever it was is gone. Not sure how I would have managed 14 boys today if I still had the flu. lol
The cleaning frenzy continues! Dh and dd1 won't recognize the place! I need to finish up the living room and tie up a few loose ends. We may be able to relax and have fun tomorrow! :D I've put dd2 and ds1 to work doing the jobs that I hate, so things are going a lot faster!
We're going to run downtown in a few minutes to take some videos back, get stamps and a couple of things at the grocery store. Thrilling, eh?
Tonight I'm planning on doing an at home mini-spa treatment. Facial, deep condition my hair, feet, etc. *sigh* Sounds blissful. Now if ds2 will just cooperate and go to sleep as soon as I put him to bed!
Dh and dd come home late tomorrow! :yippee: Since dh was gone for so many weeks to New York I've become a lot better at handling things on my own. These five measly days have just flown by!
Cathy, that sucks that you lost your 'puter! Let us know if your dh comes through with that gold... you'll be able to hire him out!
Mel, glad you're feeling better. :)

LOL!!! My boys have done this to me, too. We will watch an old video ("old" as in when they were babies, or our wedding video), and one of them will say, "Wow...Mom, you really look different! " I think they are trying to tell me that I used to be thinner...but are trying to be kind by not saying, "skinny"! LOL

lol I told them that I got married and had 3 babies. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that I eat way too much and don't excercise!! They looked at some pics of Brichard when we were dating and said... who is that?

Good hot day here but at least it was cool in our back yard.
Dds had their coach pitch softball tournament tonight. They played at 6 and won. Then they played again at 8 and won again. They got first place!!! :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: Second year in a row for their team. It's so nice because everyone plays and everyone bats. The coaches help the kids know where to throw and when to run. Unlike ds #2's Ponies team. He actually ended up quitting last night. The coach, who is also the boy scout leader, favors the kids who are in scouts or friends of his son. (neither of which my son is) He told the boys that they'd all get a chance to start. My son is the ONLY one who didn't get to start, and at the last home game it was the 5th inning when the coach 'noticed' ds on the bench and said "I suppose we should put him in."
URGGHHH!! It makes me so mad!! My son loves to play ball and does a good job. 3 years ago he had a coach that told him he wouldn't put him in because he wasn't any good. Ds was heartbroken and wouldn't go out the next year. He played last year started most every game and had a good season. Now he moves up to Ponies and it's back to the same ole nonsense. Why can't adults just let kids have fun???
(Sorry--didn't mean to go on and on)
Don't know where the time has gone, it's already 10. :yippee: Just remembered I get to sleep in until 6:30 tomorrow!!

LOL... so true Kat! Whenever I have Sarah I don't seem to get a thing done around here. :) All of my attention is directed towards her. LOL I can definitely tell that I am not as young as I use to be. I guess that's why it feels so good for me not to have so many day care kids anymore. :) I LOVE being a grandma and always look forward to her times spent here, but when I'm tired, I find myself looking forward to her getting picked up. I'm always ready for her next visit though. LOL

We had a great day off today. Dh and I decided to go for a walk down a walking trail we'd never walked before and ended up walking 6 miles!!! I had already walked my 2 in the morning, so I walked a total of 8 miles today. 8o 8o By the time we got back I had to go to the bathroom so bad... plus I was hot/sweaty and very thirsty. We hadn’t brought anything to drink because we didn't know the trail was going to be that long. We kept thinking it was going to end soon, but after walking 3 miles, we finally decided to turn around and walk back. (there was suppose to be an outhouse and drinking fountain at the end of the trail) I was never so happy to see the car AND to see that there was an outhouse (as awful as they are) nearby. Then we stopped at a park I use to go to a lot when I was a kid (can't believe how much it changed) got a drink and sat/relaxed for a bit. Then we went to look at motorcycles, which we decided to buy two of for our retirement. Not too sure how soon we'll actually get one... (dh takes FOREVER to decide when/what kind or how much he wants to spend) so it may not be as soon as I would like it to be. LOL Then we went to Chili's for supper. We'd never eaten there before and we were both happy (we were both starving) to find that it was a good place to eat. LOL
I can hear thunder rumbling in the distance... it's also starting to lightening and I can hear it starting to rain, so I guess the storm they're predicting is on it's way. I hope we don't loose any more tree's/large limbs. I moved the car's from under the tree to the driveway... just to be on the safe side. LOL
Anyway... Hope you all had a good day!!!

Did I read this right? (I am a little sleep deprived. LOL!) Are you both getting motorcycles? Have you driven one before? I think it'd be fun, but I am sort of a chicken....have had lots of rides on them - just never driven one.

How did the weather end up in your area? Saw some live pics on tv last night and some areas looked pretty scary! :nervous: Hope everything is okay around you!

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: I'm sure there will be a few people surprised as well. LOL I have a friend who I never thought would ever even GO on a motorcycle, to say nothing about getting one. One day she and her dh drove up on them... I couldn't believe it. They love them. Dh and I have been talking about buying some ever since. We went out again today to look. I have a feeling that were probably going to end up getting them before retirement. LOL We haven't told dd's yet, and have a feeling they may not like what they hear. :) I guess if it were them getting a cycle we'd be worried too, so I guess I should expect no less from them. I guess we've got to go to classes... so that will be interesting. I'll probably end up with a wimpy cycle compared to dh's, but I don't want anything too big/heavy to start out with. I'm excited... :)

Oh, lord most of my close friends at church have motorcycles. Three couples have Harleys and the rest have Honda Goldwings, a couple have the trikes. Two of my best friends have their own motor cycles, though most of the time they will ride on their hubbies' as the couples get together and go on what they call "Supper Runs" where they ride off to some little hole in the wall, well known eating place throughout the state. They keep after us to get one, but I'm not so sure that would be for me. Maybe on the back of a trike going slow. We laugh and call them bikers for Jesus.

Dh's getting a "real" mototcycle. LOL Don't exactly know when but I'm hoping we won't have to wait too long. We've got to check to see when classes are. Anyone know hard it is to get licensed for a motorcycle? :)

Yep... the guy said it could get up to 90 (which I'm sure I'll never attempt to do) and wouldn't have a problem keeping up with dh‘s. I just learned that in order to pass my driver's test I'll have to take the test on a regular motorcycle. I'm just hoping it isn't on one of those 500 pound jobs. Ugh... If I do well on them though, I just "might" change my mind and buy a regular motorcycle... but will have to wait and see how I do. What I like about this one is that it's an automatic... :) I also like the looks of it. The 2005 model only comes in gray and blue, so am going to wait until the 2006 models come out (middle of July) so I can get it in RED. :) Were going to go out tomorrow and look at the Honda models.

Diane...
Not very if you live in Ontario! Years ago I had my beginners for a car, not motorcycle. I let it go and never did get my licence and then a few years later went again. When I took the test it was computerized the second time and I failed by 2 questions that I complained didn't make sense to me. I couldn't figure out why I needed to know because they concerned motorcycles and that's when the girl realized she gave me the wrong test. But if I had guessed those questions the other way, I would have had that licence instead of the one for a car. LOL
I like the one you are looking at. Very 'girly' motorcylce instead of the big honkin' Harley's. I would love one of those little scooters that you see in advertisements that are sort of like motorcyles. Only cuter. lol
I totally wimped out. I decided to get this instead.

It's not that hard in most states to get a motorcycle license. You usually have to go to a motorcycle safety class (dh's was 2 full weekends, I think) where they go over the laws and how to ride and then you take a written test. Then they take you outside to actually get on a motorcycle (they usually provide them) and they teach you the basics and then you practice. Then you take a driving test on the motorcycle. Dh had several people in his class who had never driven a motorcycle of any kind before and he had several women in this class too. Anyway, after passing the class they give you this card that you take to the DMV and then you give them the card with your application for a motorcycle license. Most states just add it to your regular driver's license.
I'd have to say you did wimp out! That's a scooter, not a motorcylce! It looks fun none the less.
Here in our family we stick to quads because they have 4 wheels! Dh does have a street bike (motorcycle) and we bought ds a small dirt bike, but it scares him too much because he has to think abuot balancing, the clutch, the brake and giving it gas. All that can be a lot to think about when you are sliding around in the sand!
