My skin is so red due to rosecea. (Not sure this spelling is right.) I have to wear tons of concealer under my makeup. I use Mary Kay and it's yellow. I'm thinking green under tones would be better but don't know who makes one.
I've tried antibiotics to clear it up, but then I have constant yeast infections. Any proven remedies to help clear it up?

Yellow tones in foundation do help counteract red skin tones. Several cosmetic lines have green concealer...Artistry (which is Amway), BeautiConntrol, Adrien Arpel, Physicans Formula.
Good luck. Be sure to wear sunscreen.

Treatment:

Antibiotics such as MetroGel, MetroCream and sulfur preparations applied to the skin one to two times a day work well for many people with rosacea.
Retin-A is an effective treatment for Rosacea and can decrease the number of small blood vessels.
Topical vitamin C creams such as SkinC Skin Firming Cream will lessen the redness that is caused by rosacea. It should be applied once a day.
Use of sunscreen and avoidance of sunlight will help to prevent flares.
Antibiotics taken by mouth are usually effective in controlling rosacea, and can be used for people not controlled by topical antibiotics. Tetracycline is the most common antibiotic used for treating rosacea.
Treatment only controls rosacea. There is no cure for this condition. Most people with this condition need to continue applying Metrogel and Retin-A or taking antibiotics for months to years.
Accutane is a drug taken by mouth which is reserved for severe rosacea. Accutane has many side effects and if taken during pregnancy will cause birth defects. Patients taking Accutane must have periodic blood tests and checkups.
The red face of rosacea can often be improved with tunable dye laser treatments. This type of treatment is time consuming and expensive. It is not covered by insurance.
Rhinophyma (nose swelling and tissue over growth) can be treated with the CO2 laser. This is often covered by insurance because it is so disfiguring.

Are you sure it's rosacea? I have systemic lupus and the malar rash that accompies lupus looks similar to rosacea. If a dr diagnosed the rosacea, he/she would have prescribed a couple of creams. I use Elocon (a steroid cream) and MetroGel (an anti-infective gel). These 2 creams are frequently prescribed for rosacea.
Rosacea untreated can get nasty! Fortunately, malar rashes are rarely raised.

http://rosacea.org has tons of helpful information.

I use a combo of green and yellow concealers. I buy the ones from Mary Kay. I also like Cliniques Super fit foundation. It covers wonderfully. Not too expensive either!

Foundation should have yellow undertones. The green concealers goes on first, then the foundation with the yellow undertones. I stay away from anything pink. It's difficult sometimes to tell if the foundation has yellow or pink undertones.... for me, when I found it, I stuck with it.

Take care

I have had Rosacea for a long time. I found the best make-up for covering it up, Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals. They have a color called "Bisque" which is the best concealor. It is all powder form, looks incredibly natural and truly covers the redness. I wouldn't use anything else again. I have had people comment on how nice my skin looks, if they only knew how red it was underneath.

I just spent $148.00 on Metrolotion and am tired of paying that much. It hasn't made it go away. Does anyone know of safe home remedies for Rosacea?

i have a bit of a red rash on both sides of my nose accompanied by small red bumps. my doctor suggested it could be stress related rosacea but since i have to wait a month to see a dermatologist due to the waiting list. if it is stress related, having to wait a month to get a diagnosis is just stressing me out worse! does rosacea have little raised bumps that accompany it?

I would be grateful for any suggestions/advice.

Thank you.
