For any of you who read my post in the health board. I am trying to find a doc who can do surgery for my condition. I am starting to get nervous though. I know the surgery will be hard and painful but that I also have to do it. I wish it would just go away. :( Please pray for me. I know God's in control but it is still scary...

How close are you to Akron? This site is a endometriosis support group in Akron..perhaps they can help you find a doctor in your area

I have had many friends with endometriosis, and the treatments were either with medication for the pain, a d&c (which I have had 4 and they aren't that bad), hormones like bc pills or ultimately a hysterectomy.

What part of Ohio are you in? NE? NW? SW? SE? There are many good medical facilities...Cleveland Clinic, Akron as AnnW mentioned, OSU...I'm sure you may have a bit of a drive, but if you give us drift of an area, maybe we can help you find something.

Meanwhile, I'll pray for you and that you find a good dr.

I'm in NW OH. Dh and I don't mind where the doc. is. We are currently looking at one in Oregon, one in CA and a couple in Georgia. I want one that is highly recommended and does either excision or a combination of excision and laser surgery. I'm having a really hard time finding a good list of docs with their specialties. I've seen a lot of lists of docs. but I can't find a list that includes what types of surgery they perform for endo. It's very frustrating trying to find one... We would like to have the surgery in August.

I'll try to do some looking around. Have you tried the AMA? They have a site I was just looking at...you put in that city/state and it will bring up names of drs. Maybe you can dig through those? Or call you local AMA? If you tell them what you're looking for they should be able to help. I'd also contact major medical centers closest to you and ask them or have them get back to you. There has to be help somewhere closer. Also, the AMA (be sure to look under patient info) has information if you type in endo. although you may already know all that.
I'll let you know if I come up with anything...oh and I'm in NE Ohio :)

I forgot to add the link to AMA! Here it is -

I think I'm leaning mostly toward the other three I've found because I have heard they have very high success rates in this type of surgery. Dr. Redwine in Oregon specializes and treats only endometriosis and excision surgery. I've heard a lot of people recommend him. Dh and I don't want to have to go through this surgery every year or few months and I'm finding a lot of endo patients go through surgery numerous times because of underskilled docs. Thank you all so much for your encouragement and advice. Hopefully I'll find one soon. :)
