Good morning. Dd2 and I went to her freshman orientatation Thursday morning and got back last evening. It's a nice campus and she says she is looking forward to going. After I went to the 'parent part' and had lunch on Thurs., I called an aunt that I hadn't seen in a long time. We visited and caught up. I got back to my motel at 8:15, called home, and was asleep by 9--woke up Friday at 8. I haven't slept that long in a while!! Stopped to visit my dad on the way back. It was nice to take a little break. Also good to spend a little time with dd2. This has been a rough few months for us. (Well for me, I guess, as she seems oblivious to anyone and anything!! ) We did talk a bit, and I hope to see SOME improvement. LOL
Today, dh is working, and I have to catch up on all the stuff around here that hasn't been done. We had a series of power outages--24 out of 39 hours were powerless (I picked a great time to leave town! LOL), and I'm not sure about the freezer stuff. I think any meat will need to be tossed out, but I haven't inventoried the damage yet. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Morning!
Not much planned...dbf is meeting up with some friends from college so I think I'm just gonna hang out and watch movies...Maybe work on the spare room.
Cathy~ what college did dd go too? Glad you got some rest and visit's in.
Cathy, you must have been exhausted and your body was catching up on some much needed rest.
It's raining here but it looks like it might clear up (I'm hopeful). I'm supposed to be meeting a girlfriend downtown for some outdoor art thing but if it's still raining then, maybe we'll just catch a movie. Dh, two of his brothers and a nephew are out cutting down the tree off our garage. There's way more tree there than it looked like.

Good morning!
Brichard got up early to play basketball and I couldn't go back to sleep. The kids are all up now. I need to shower and go to the grocery. I hate going on Saturday, I just didn't have time to do it yesterday.
I am working one of the kiosks at church tonight doing sign ups for an upcoming women's retreat. I hope to get home in time for Big Brother. That's it for today other than the usual cooking, cleaning, laundry. Whee! lol
nothing much going on here. last finishing touches on dd's stuff for camp.

Laundry that I didn't do yesterday and packing a suitcase. General tidy in the house which I will enlist everyones help in. Still have to clean the van, which isn't too bad since I won't let the kids eat in there, one time I did and ds3 droped chips on the floor and they got crumpled.
Kids are so excited to go to Niagara Falls tomorrow, it's all they have been able to talk about. lol Dh and I are looking forward to the trip too.
If I don't get back on here, have a great weekend/week and see ya's on Wed. sometime. :)

Got up early and went for my walk... stopped at a garage sale on the way and bought a booster seat for my nephew to use while they are at my mom's visiting. I dropped that off over at her house and then went to Target and to check out their sandles and ended up buying a pair of capri's and a new shirt. :) I've never owned or even tried on a pair of capri's before... will have to get use to the way they feel. It's almost like someone cut the bottom of my pants off. LOL Stopped at Pay Less on my way home from Target and got two pairs of sandles for only $5.00 a piece. They were normally $16.99. One of them are a pair I had been looking at and almost bought last week... so I'm glad I waited. LOL
Were suppose to go over to Dawn James' house about lunch time so we can babysit for Sarah. Their wedding anniversary was last week and they want to go to Red Lobster to celebrate. Their nervous about us going over to their house because the lady they're renting the house from has started acting all crazy... taking it upon herself to unlock/open the door and walk in on them any time she feels like it. Her bf has quite a temper... started yelling/screaming and making threats because they front lawn is brown from lack of rain. I think they simply want their house back and are trying to give Dawn/James a hard time so they'll get frustrated and move out. Anyway... Sarah got scared and started screaming/crying... does't seem to feel very secure in her house anymore because now she follows Dawn/James all over the place and has gotten very clingy. Some people... Anyway, yesterday I bought her a little kitchen set at a garage sale, (only $4.00) so were going to bring for her. She loves playing with mine so I'm hoping she'll like this one as well.
Anyway... it's hot/humid and I think I'm going to get my suit on and take a jump in the pool. Hope you all have a great day!
Diane...
Diane, how truly awful for Sarah and James. They can add a deadbolt to prevent the landlord from entering. They are responsible though for maintaining the yard.
A booster seat? Isn't this boy 8?

LOL...I thought the same thing, except that I thought he was 13! LOL Is this the same boy who you thought would be bored at your house with all of the daycare stuff? (The one who was staying at your mom's...but you thought wanted to stay by you?) LOL....now I'm confused!!
I though the was 13 too, Ann.
Sorry to hear about your dd's landlord, Diane, YIKES!
Well then a booster seat really makes even less sense! LOL

They just passed a new seat belt law here that all children 8 and under must be in a booster. My dd had to go back into a booster. I put my 9 yo ds in one because he isn't 80 pounds yet. The 80 pounds is a guideline, not the law, but better safe than sorry.

that explains it.

Wow Diane! Isn't there some kind of law that your dd can mention to her landlord? Maybe, 'hey, we live here and if you need in, please let us know and we will be home'. There must be some advice she can secretly go and get from the police that would help? I hope so. Poor Sarah. Or maybe a restraining order against the dbf until Dawn/James can move out?

It states in their contract that they aren't responsible for any yard care. :) She's just being a PITA... She showed up while we were there... but she never came near the door. I had locked the screen door just in case she tried.
LOL... her youngest ds is 3, and she needed the booster seat for him. LOL

They've already told her that if she ever needs to come in for any reason, all she's got to do is call and set up an appointment, and they'd be happy to accomodate her. 8o She just doesn't seem to understand why they don't want her walking in on them. She literally popped "in" on them twice this past week.
After seeing how she was acting/behaving (and dressed) today... I'm beginning to wonder if she doesn't have a "thing" for SIL. She's got to be in her early 40's, but was dressed like a 20 year old. It was disgusting! LOL Anyway... I'm hoping they find somewhere else to move quickly and they won't have to worry or deal with her anymore. I feel bad that Sarah (or Dawn/James) can't feel secure in their own home anymore.
Diane...
Diane, have them change or add a lock. The landlord has no right to do that unless specifically written in the lease. As to the yard, even if they aren't responsible for mowing, you sure not watering? We never have our tenants mow, but 'resonable' maintenance is required, like watering.

They agreed to mow... but seeing they are paying for the water she said she wouldn't require it. The neighbors told Dawn/James that as long as this lady lived there, she'd never done anything much with the yard. She'd mow it once each/every two weeks and never water it. Now for some reason it concerns her that it's not being watered enough. Dawn/James HAS watered it... but it's been well over a month and a half since we had any rain and it's hard to keep up with. As we were leaving their house dh and I noticed that their yard looked better than most in the neighborhood.
I honestly think she's just trying to drive them out of there because she and her bf want to move back in OR she's found someone else who'd be willing to pay her more each/every month. Dh and I didn't talk with her at all but you can tell she's a dingy by just looking at her. LOL
I forgot that you also rent property... and I'm sure you and dh wouldn't dream of just walking in on your tenants. She acts like just because it's her house, it gives her the right to do whatever she wants to do. I told Dawn/James the next time she wander's in while they're upstairs, they should just call the police and say they have an intruder. (which she is... ) Maybe then she'd be more careful. LOL Thanks for your advice...
Diane...
