Ok, ladies....my dd who is going to be four in July, has some barbies....and fisher price little people....she loves little figures...still plays with the fisher price barn and dollhouse.....my deliema is.....she has barbies, and likes to play with my nieces barbie dream house, but should I get her the step up fisher price dollhouse instead, I mean at what age do they really get into barbies...all the pieces and shoes and all are always getting lost, I don't think she likes dressing them since they are always naked....Ken doesn't even have his head on him half the time  just wondering what you all think would be better, to get the barbie dream house, or the fisher price dollhouse, it has people and furniture and all.....well thanks in advance...

My personal preference would be the Fisher Price people/house. I found with my two dd's they weren't really ready for Barbie stuff til after age 5 and even then the things could frustrate them. The Barbie houses can be a nightmare, too, as they are not as sturdy as FP things. Maybe they have changed in the last couple years, but that's been my experience. I found, too, with my oldest, she always went back to the doll house and left Barbie - even as she got older. Good Luck with your choice...I can't believe she'll be 4!!

My girls like Barbies but their favorites are the little ones (like in the McDonald's Happy Meals). We debated on this one too last year when dd#2 turned 4. We went for the doll house rather than the Dream house. Another thing that helped us decide was that they didn't have a lot of room and the doll house can be easily picked up and put aside where the dream house almost needs to be put in one place and left .

Good luck in your decision.

My dd loves her FP "loving family" dollhouse and accessories. They have really great pieces that play music. She just got a big victorian dollhouse for her birthday. It is 4 1/2 feet tall. She is using her loving family pieces until she gets older then we will buy the realistic wooden pieces.

So....what I guess I am trying to say....I would probably get the barbie house and let her play with the FP pieces she has until she gets older and wants to move into Barbies. That way you don't have to buy a house now and another house later. I hope this makes sense!

the barbie house on Ebay went to someone else, so....dh and I looked at the fisher price site, and also priced them on ebay, looks like we are leaning towards that for her....also I have a cousin who has one, maybe she is ready to sell it... LOL... one can only hope...

dd loved her fisher price doll house. (actually she still pulls it out once in a while when no one is around to see her - she's nine now, but still a little girl a hear sometimes) mil bought her a Barbie house for her sixth birthday. She used it alot for about a month, but then Barbie and friends packed up and moved into a cardboard box. She lined it with wall paper scraps, a small mat, cut out windows and doors. Eventually another box came along and turned into a second story for the house, complete with rope ladder. It is still in the playroom downstairs. Barbie's house has moved on to a new home, where from what I have seen it isn't used very often.

We had an older FP house when DD was 3 and 4. She's 5 now and it's sitting in the garage sale pile (no furniture you'd be better off buying new than me shipping this one especially since it's an older one). At the same garage sale that we bought the FP house at we bought a Barbie house. The same one my cousin had when I was a kid. It's the chalet style that comes in 3 huge pieces. That's the one that the girls are now interested in. DD goes back and forth on Barbies but the neighbor girl (also 5) is a huge fan and always begging to play with DD's Barbie stuff. I think a good transition would be to either go with the Kelly doll and accessories or to go with something like the Merry Go Round. We have the Merry Go Round and the ferris wheel from WalMart. I think the brand it Girls Forever? The kids ALL really love those two. Beannie babies, pokemon and other toys all go to the fair. They also set up a couple of horse corrals and put little stuffed toys in and make a zoo. All kinds of Barbie toys that can be used for things other than just Barbie! You can probably use the FP house for kelly dolls anyways.
