View Full Version : Buying bras! grr....
Why is it that bras have to fall in the same category as jeans when trying to buy a pair that fits??? I swear I tried on 10 different bras today and each one fitted completely different. I ended up buying 3-all of which were different sizes and cups! The saleslady must think I was nuts! LOL
I am usually a size 8 jeans and I went to 3 different stores and bought one pair that was a 6 and the other was a 10... Its absurd!
I know what you mean! My theory is....guys design this stuff...enough said! :crazyroll
There was this big article in the newspaper about women and bras (and yes, I actually read it!) that talked about how most of us don't wear the right size, etc. Well, Nordstrom (is there a Nordstrom in Colorado?) has these "experts" who fit you for a bra. I went in one day, and this woman was really great (she kept talking about my "tissue" which I thought was SO funny!) and found me this bra. I thought for sure she was NUTS because there was NO WAY this was my size, but guess what? It fit perfectly! I guess they do know what they're doing!
I probably should have bought ten of them, but because I am just CERTAIN I am going to lose ten pounds in the next few months, I didn't. But you can bet I'll be back to see the "Bra Lady" at Nordstrom!
Amy
PS There is NOTHING worse than trying on swimsuits!
Rae-Im positive men do this to irritate us more!!
Amy-so the lady refered to your breasts as tissue? that is hysterical!! We don't have a Nordstrom here. The closest we have is a Dillard's and I don't think they have a full-time bra lady. LOL
Don't even go into swimsuits!!! I just got a catalog showing measurements if you are long waisted. After squeezing myself into a size 12 speedo, I found out Im really a size 8 long waisted!!! grr.... I always stick to either Nike or Speedo racer back swimsuits. They are sporty, flexible and they don't fall apart after the first use!

I am with Amy about getting fitted for your bra. Do you have a non-department store lingerie shop in your area? They can usually fit you.
Anyone tried a water bra yet???
Yes I too agree that a man makes the sizing.....
What is a water bra...you have me imagining, something out of this world.....
I usually by the one that fits, meaning I have to try on about 6 different ones and I too walk out of there with a couple of different sizes....oh well...maybe its just me....I have been to Nordstroms and been fitted, its great when the girl knows what she is doing, take all the guess work off yourself...

Is it bra season or something? LOL, cuz I bought 2 new ones yesterday. I did end up with 2 of the same size, but I tried on 2 different sizes because that's what I have in my drawer at home.

They are the only store around here that I like as far as bras go... They will fit you even if you don't buy a bra and They are the only store around here that always has someone available to do the fitting. I love their selection and so does dh lol. I even use their bras when I am nursing (my favorite is a stretch cotton.) They are also one of the only stores that carry odd and large sizes. They have a 100% guarantee on quality.

A water bra is kind of like the wonder bra only it has water instead of padding. The water molds perfectly with your "tissue" (lol) and lifts you up!
My neighbor got one and she likes it except it is a little "heavy."

Or you could be like on Will and Grace when the thing springs a leak at an art gallary.

Ya'll are hilarious! This is my fisrt time on this board and I'm cracking up over your bra adventures!
I too, had a "specialist" fit me, but I would swear it was actually a man dressed in drag!! "She" was quite scary and yes, gave me sizes that I NEVER would have thought I would wear.... oh! and then she'd come back in to "check" on me..... ugh, she popped her head over the top of the door and I about jumped out of my skin!
So, there's my bra story... which reminds me, it's about time to retire what's in my drawer too; but I think I'll muddle through getting the right size alone this time.
