ds got home the other evening and said he had looked at a couple more houses, but thinks he found the perfect lot to have one built instead. It's out in the country. 35 acres of land. It already had a small house which we could live in until ours is built and then it could be sold and moved. We would also have a inground pool. It's almost the dream home I posted about a short time ago. I can't believe this is happening. We are going to take a quick look at it tomorrow since we will be in the area anyway. The weather is great, so we decided to take the kids to Wonderland for the day. We usually try and go at least once a year. We are thinking now, that if we are going to be closer, maybe we should just buy a season pass and go all summer long.
I am getting excited now. It is only starting to dawn on me that we are really going. Another advantage is the quick closing date. We have to be out of our place by mid-July, and this place is already vacent.

Well, the trip to look at possible new house, and Wonderland is off for today. ds woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and saying his throat hurt. Gave him some tempra and eventually got him back to sleep. This morning he woke up covered in chicken pox. Poor guy is feeling miserable. He is sleeping again now. dd and dh have gone to church, then he is coming home to stay with ds and dd and I are going out. We are going to consult the doctor, but if you don't hear from me for a few days, I may be staying a Mil's. Not sure if it is a good idea to be around Mr. Chickenpox in this stage of my pregnancy. I feel guilty leaving him when he is not well, and for leaving dh to care for him. (especially since it is his last week at the local office).

Karla B ~~ If we get the place, you're right, there would be room for a few more of you to build there. We could create our own little IB Village. One word of caution. We get LOTS of snow.

So sorry to hear your ds has chicken pox. They're no fun!! Has your dd already had them or will you be in for a second go round with her?

Best of luck!!

This is the first chicken pox I've heard of this year. Before the vaccine I could count on a spring outbreak taking a fourth of my class in stages and then having to re-teach everything. Be careful. Have you had chicken pox? My sister got it a couple of years ago and it's bad for an adult.
Hope things work out with the house hunting.
We went out today to look at a lot on a creek that has been developed. We wanted to buy this lot 3 years ago for $32,000. Now there's a beautiful two-story house with 3 car garage and an extra 2 car garrage an small apartment. Wish we'd bought the land. The owner bought the lot for $85,000. He did not check with his neighbors before building the two-story house and is now being sued. He's decided to move back to Calif. and the house is for sale. Can anyone loan me $450,000? It is a dream home with a killer view. I'm really upset we never bought the lot, because we could have built a nice home for about $150,000.
A neighbor was telling us he bought some cliff property looking out over this same creek that he is subdividing. We went to look at it too. We can get a lot for $18,000 with a nice view, but the mother in me worries about the cliff. This subdivision is really raw right now. The best lot is the only one really cleared right now and it's ours for the taking. I'd be pretty hesitant about building right now, we'd be the first and it's pretty secluded. But, we could probably triple our money on the lot in the future if we decided not to build.
Other than wanting a bigger kitchen and dining room, though I really love the house we have now.

Good luck with the lot/house Ryleigh... it sounds absolutely wonderful!!! Sorry to hear that your ds has the chicken pox. I got a call from one of the mom's that I do day care for on Saturday and I guess her ds broke out with them during the night... he was already COVERED head to toe with them. :) Then when I went over to my neighbor's house to inform her (he always plays with her son) about the chicken pox... her ds came running to the door ALSO covered with chicken pox... so there definitely going around. Now all I have to do is wait and see how many more of my dck's get them. Ugh...

Anyway, good luck with the house and... I hope it will be okay for you to stay with your family during the time your ds has the chicken pox. I think that if you've already had them though... it should be okay. :) Let us know!

Diane...

Thanks for the well widhes and concern for dw and dk's.
Ryleigh and dd have both had chicken pox (I have too). The doctor recomended that if possible she stay away from ds until spots have all come out and are scabbed over. The risk is low but her immunity is down right now because of a cold and she can't take much for it. bil is out of town for a few days anyway so the girls are both staying with my sister. My mom will come stay with ds during the day while I am at work and then he's all mine.
Poor guy justs sleeps all day. I was able to get him to eat a bit, but he is finding it difficult because there are blisters inside his mouth as well. He is drinking ok as long as it is just water. Rinsing his mouth with salt water seems to help a bit too. They say in a day or two he will be back to usual self again. He did get the vaccine against chicken pox, but got it anyway. sort of defeats the purpose of putting him through getting the shot in the first place.

I had wondered about the chicken pox vaccine and if it really worked. I've got a little guy in my day care who is out with the chicken pox. When I told the rest of the parents a lot of them said they didn't have to worry because their children had been vaccinated. Somebody else had also told me that even though their dd had been vaccinated... she had still gotten them but probably not as bad as she would have had she not had the vaccination. I hope your ds gets well quickly and Ryleigh will be able to return home soon. :)

Bigdaddy glad Ryleigh has a place to stay till the chicken pox is gone. I've heard that even though you take the vaccine that you could still get them, but not as bad. I don't think that it is manditory here and doctors are telling people not to have their children vaccinated until 2nd or 3rd grade if they have not gotten chicken pox.

Both of our boys had the chicken pox vaccine and they both got chicken pox. In our case it was only a couple of spots each. Not a big deal. Yet, I know we get a false sense of security when they have had the shot. When my boys got the shot it was new and cost $70 each. yikes!

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to be home, but want ds to be here too. I don't know how it could have been worse without the vaccine. Just a waste of $60.
Don't know what is happening with the new house now. Have to see when this mess is over with. dh is down there next week so he can check into it again.
Sorry if I am going on and on and on about ds. My nerve are just on edge.

Ryleigh - Hope you're hanging in there. You are not talking about your ds too much! Hope he's feeling better! You guys have a lot going on right now and we are here anytime you need support or a venting session. :) (((hugs)))
