After much thought, and after the bad experience I had on the bike today... I've decided I will never go back on that thing again!!! I've been having problems trying to "get this". I've been having major issues just trying to get it going (that clutch/throttle thing just isn't working for me... ) Ugh... Well, today I accidently hit the throttle a little too much while going around a corner (in a secluded parking lot, so thank God nobody saw me... ) and I ended up in a ditch. 8o 8o Thank GOD I landed there and not in the parking lot... otherwise I probably would have ruined my bike and injured myself even more than I did. Anyway... I'm way too scared to go back on it again, and dh said that if I'm that scared about going back on, I shouldn't. Anyway... I feel like a big wimp, but I can at least say that I tried. I feel bad for buying such of a nice/expensive bike and then giving up so quick, but I'm taking this as a warning and I'm going to listen. Anyway... just thought I'd let you all know that me and this bike are no longer an item. :(

Oh (((Diane))) get back on!!! You can do it!! It takes time to get used to shifting gears. Can you drive a manual transmission car? I hate to see you give up so soon.

I am glad you weren't hurt!

learned to drive a motorcycle on a Kawasaki 90 when I was in 7th grade. The clutch is a tricky thing to learn and with the size of your bike, I am sure it scared the living lights out of you. If it is something that you really want to do, wait awhile and see if you can conquer the fear of getting back on again. Don't let one failed attempt drive you away from something you have been dreaming of. If it wasn't a big dream of yours and something you "thought" you were going to like, now you don't, get rid of it! LOL

I haven't gotten in my inline skates that I just HAD to have since I wiped out so badly that I could see the bone in my knee. On the other hand, my Dad taught me stick shift and I staled out at the busiest light in town-4 times! I had 2 miles worth of cars behind me, I am screaming and my Dad is just sitting there saying *I* have to do it just as calmly as a fat cat. I didn't try to drive stick again for a month, but my parents were gone and I had to take the dog to my sisters house an hour away and the only car left was the stick! I freaked out at every stop light, but I made it and now stick is my favorite to drive. LOL Either I like telling antecdotes of my life, or this was insinghtful-I don't know! ROFL

I'm not sure but....maybe...is either bike big enough for two people....maybe dh could get on the back with you and it would calm you alittle while learning.

You know I understand because I wiped out on my bike as a kid so many times that I gave up....but I still to this day wish I could rid a bike....don't give up.

(((Diane))) I hope you get back on if it was your dream. I agree with what Amy said. Who by the way, cracks me up. LOL
Maybe you could go with dh on it with you, him driving at first and then you?

You can't carry a passenger on a permit. That and... do you really think dh would want to get on the back of my bike after watching me do that? LOL :biglaugh: I know if I saw him fly into the ditch like I did... I’d never get on the back of his bike. LOL

Dh is still be going to go to classes and get his license. Then when he feels comfortable enough... I'll just ride with him on his. I feel so incredibly stupid because this is something I honestly thought I could do. I don't think this is something I'm going to get over. The scene of what happened continues to go over and over in my mind, and each/every time it does I just cringe. My shoulder is sore, my ankle is slightly sprained... is sore, but at least I can still walk on it. I feel fortunate that, with the wedding being next Saturday... I wasn't injured more. If I hadn’t landed in the ditch but in the parking lot... it would have been a lot worse for the bike and for me. (considering the fact that no one else in my family, besides our children even know that we have them) All were telling the kids is that I changed my mind and I decided to sell my bike. If they knew what happened to me, they'd only use it against dh. At least I'm glad he's doing well and is enjoying his bike. LOL

I;m sorry that happened, but glad you are physically ok. Ds has wanted a dirt bike since he was 2 years old. He finally got one (at 8) and it scared the SH!T out of him. He still wants to ride, but is so scared. The whole balance/shifting/clutch gets him. Dh didn't think to get him an automatic to start out with. Ds is ok with it because now he has a 4 wheeler (which he has crashed a few times, but he still gets back on even though it scared him). I'd say get back on (after the wedding) and try again, but I'm pretty sure that you won't.

Sorry to hear it's not working out. Personally I don't think you should give up on it though. I agree with JAK...put it away until after the wedding and then give it another shot.

While I don't want to see you get hurt, I don't think you should give up.

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time with the motorcycle and glad you weren't hurt badly, but I too think you shouldn't give up yet. Even if it takes til next spring to get back on, don't give up yet.

That's what I was origionally going to get... until dh and the sales guy convinced me that I'd be able to learn how to do this one... no problem. I also feel like this one was too big. I had wanted a smaller one... but dh thought it would be too small. 8o I think guy's think "big" while most women think "small/safe". LOL

I might be able to trade this one in for the one I had origionally wanted... but not sure if the guy will go along with it. 8o I think we should have taken the classes BEFORE buying the cycles... then I would have known ahead of time. Anyway... dh's going to call/talk with the guy tomorrow to see if we can do something else. Keep your fingers crossed.

Diane (((((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))) so sorry that happened .. but I would say give it a few days. see if ya can exchange it for a smaller one. then try again.
If I can learn to drive a semi going down the interstate. then you can learn this thing tooo !!! don't give up on your dream .. please. And attempting to learn anything with a clutch is very, very hard to do. I learned it at 30 and had never never driven a clutch at all !!!! so just wait a few days and try agian .. please ??? please ??? its something ya wanted ..
if not for carpal tunnel I would still be driving a stick .. they are neat and fun. really .. give it a few days .. maybe after going to the classes ??? yes ??? it really can be fun .. I love riding on them now .. but they really are neat ..
