Has anyone gone to see the movie, Shrek? I would like to take my 5 year old daughter, but see that it's rated PG. If anyone has seen it, please let me know what the content is like ---- i.e. is it appropriate for a 5 year old.
Thanks, Jennifer
I checked it out on www.kidsinmind.com (great place for movie review). I guess it would depend on the 5yo!

I saw a review on it. (maybe on same site?) It was a Christian review site and said that it had some gross jokes at the beginning to set the tone for Shrek's character. I don't remember what else it said, but I believe they said it was a funny good movie. Don't remember the age suggestion though.

Saw it earlier this week with nephew. He thought it was great (age 8 ). I thought it was just plain stupid. I guess it would depend on your 5 year old. I think mine would have been getting restless and asking if it was time to go yet.

I heard there were alot of references to "passing gas." I guess Shrek might have a little digestive problem. LOL
My dh saw it tonight and said NO WAY that our ds and dd (age 6) could go. He said there were several "situation" scenes that he didn't want to have to explain at this age.He also said it had several references to "A_ _" as in "gotta go save my A - - " meaning donkey, of course, but it's something I could see my kids repeating. He also said that it contained the D - - - word (again, something I try to avoid at this age). He was not thrilled with Cam. Diaz and Ed Murphey's characters (they seemed too adult like in those situation scenes ) Anyway, hope this helps- I suggest you do what we did--When in doubt--send a scout!
I suggest you do what we did--When in doubt--send a scout! Very clever. I like that one. Thanks for the review.
