It's almost 10:00pm here and I'm seriously thinking of staying up all night to clean the house. Now before you all have my bags packed with a one way ticket to the funny farm :silly: let me explain. Dh is out of town tonight and I've put our youngest dd in ds's room for the night. Our oldest is away on a trip with Grandma and my house is on the verge of being clean! (amost decluttered too!) I'm thinking I have a good eight hours before the kids are awake to clean without interruption! I might be worth it to see the look of astonishment on dh's face when he gets home tomorrow night.

Don't get me wrong, my house isn't a sty or anything it's just that I can never seem to get the whole thing clean at one time. There's always a room or two that needs some attention. Dd has preschool tomorrow morning until 12:00 and ds is happy to entertain himself. I guess my thought is to crash tomorrow morning. Has anyone done this before? Did it work out? I should be able to do everything but vacuum and not disturb the kids.

Since most of you are already snoozing I probably won't get any responses until tomorrow, but I'll let you know how the night turns out! Gee, since you're all in bed that means I'm talking to myself. Now you're really gonna think I'm loopy! :silly:

ROFL!!! yep..crazy as a loon!
As you can see, I am up..how's the cleaning going?
I have woken up at 3 to do stuff and then gone back to bed after the kids left for school.
Hope you had a productive night!

Ahhhhhh....... midnight cleaning...... I know it WELL!!

There is just something about DH not being home that makes it easier for me to move around and get things done! (not to mention, the phone tends to ring less at 1 a.m. and not too many solicitors come to the door after midnight!) :biglaugh:

I too have a DD who is in preschool (one of the many new kindergartners next fall) :bigcry:
so it is nice there's another 3 hours in the a.m. to finish up and sit back and look at how great your house looks - before it all goes back to pot!! :D

Have a good Thursday!

My goodness... what on earth are you thinking? I know that there was NO WAY I could have done it. I was so tired last night when I went to bed I think I fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow and I didn't open my eyes until my alarm clock went off at 6:00. LOL I was lucky my alarm WENT off... looks as if the electricity had been out for about 3 hours last night. Thank goodness I had battery back-up. LOL
I can certainly see where you could probably get a lot more done during the night than during the day without any interruptions. LOL I know between the telephone and the kids... I probably would. :) Hope you got it all done.

Diane...

:happydnc: I got more done than I thought I would, but less than I wanted to. Does that count? I finished the girl's room (which was a marathon in and of itself!), cleaned their bathroom, picked up the rest of the house and then totally crashed! I don't remember what time I went to bed but it wasn't that long ago. I kinda feel like I wimped out by going to bed, but I still got a lot done. :)

Part of the reason I gave up early is that we are "babysitting" my Mom's dog while they are gone on vacation. He was out in his pen in the kid's playroom which is also off the laundry room. So I left the playroom and laundry for today. If all goes well I should be completely done by noon and I think I'm a little more awake than I would have been if I'd not gone to sleep at all last night.

I'm off for the rest of the marathon! Wish me luck! (actually, wish me energy! that's more productive, lol!) :yippee:

Great job Jennifer!! Cleaning the kids rooms is the worst isn't it??!! Glad to have you here at the idea box! We are going to be able to console one another this fall as our babies climb on the school bus.

What were you doing up at 3:30 AnnW?

I fell asleep on the couch last night. I was watching tv ("All in the Family" LOL) and then I guess I was watching the inside of my eyelids! I woke up covered with a blanket so dh must have covered me up and went to bed. I woke up when dh went out to get the paper this morning.

Totally understand wanting to clean when there is no one around. I too long for a house that has all the rooms completely clean at the same time. Sounds like a plan. I usually don't get in the mood to clean though unless the sun is shining.

Way to go Pam! :yippee: Sounds like you got lots done. I always like to clean when dh is gone, too. (Much less frustrating than doing it when he's home if he's not in the mood to help! LOL) I don't think I have ever stayed up all night to clean, but I have read into the wee hours and have also woken up at odd hours and read for a couple hours if I'm in the middle of a really good book. :) Hope you got the rest of the cleaning done and that you can get a little

Well Pam, you must have inspired me cuz I got all 3 bathrooms cleaned, the upstairs vacuumed, and the dishes done! And my house was a sty!!!! Just wish I hadn't been sitting here eating nachos when I saw the subject of Amy's post - dog urine LOL!

:yippee: Whew!! I quit for today! The only other thing I'm going to do is iron dd's dress for the preschool graduation tonight.

I finished my room, folded and put away about six loads of laundry, vacuumed, picked up the playroom, and cleaned up the kitchen. There's still stuff that can be done, but it's not gonna happen today! I'll finish the dusting tomorrow and work on our tile floors. It's a never-ending project which depresses me to no end every time I think of it, lol! I could iron dh's work shirts, wash the windows, do mending, vacuum the furniture, reorganize about a million things and it still wouldn't be done. :) I do feel good about the day's accomplishments. This afternoon I plan to :read: and just chill till it's time to get us all ready to go tonight. Thanks for the encouragement, gals, it really helped!

Ann and Amy I don't think I could get up early to do anything, LOL!!! I am so NOT a morning person. Donna I'm glad that my momentary insanity helped you! :crazyroll

I have pulled plenty of all-nighters both for cleaning and for reading! Seems I get my best work done really late at night. Usually before a party or when DH has to go out of town. When he's gone I don't usually sleep as well anyways plus I can pull everything out of an area and do a deep cleaning. I especially like to sort through things when he's gone. Can't stand mornings either. My mom is the same way.

Well i have when i lived in an apartment the people below us worked nights so I could do it and not bother anyone. Now I cant we live on base housing and my neighbhors are really :silly: (long story remind me and I'll tell ya) so i am limited to during the day but with a almost 9 month old and a 4 1/2 yr old I think it's :crazyroll to try to pick up before they are in bed it's an endless battle but I am sure many of you know that. Although if i didnt have those :crazyroll neighbors then i would be up cleaning too.

Wow! I could never stay up that late. By 10:00 I'm toast. Catch me 5 or 6 in the morning though and
I'm ready to go. Would be nice to clean the house w/o 4 other people messing it up right behind me. I always clean in the morning and by dinner time I wonder why I bothered.
