A very dear friend has passed this on to me and I hope that maybe by me pass in on and you passing it on, maybe this baby or other may find their match. I know most of you are from other areas and you would not be able to go to this drive so please go get tested where you live. Thankyou!

Friends,
As most of you know, my four-month old nephew Tristan was
diagnosed with Leukemia in December and has been receiving chemotherapy
treatments even since. While chemotherapy can be helpful, doctors
agree that Tristan's best chances are for a bone marrow transplant.
Hence we are conducting a Bone Marrow Drive on Saturday, February 25th
from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Oakville VFW. More details can be
found at:

http://www.tristancampbellfund.com

At this time, I'll give you a summary of what it will be like.
Basically, at the drive the doctor will draw a small vile of blood.
That blood is sent to a lab to be analyzed. If you are a match, you
will be contacted. If a further test (which I believe is simply more
bloodwork) shows that your bone marrow is a perfect match for Tristan,
you will be asked to donate bone marrow. This bone marrow would be
injected into Tristan and would replace his current bone marrow. This
could cure the Leukemia as he would then have healthy bone marrow
producing healthy blood.
Giving bone marrow is safe and easy. It requires, at most, one
night in a hospital. Bone marrow is withdrawn from your hip bone.
There is some soarness associated with giving bone marrow. The
soarness usually goes away within a few days, but is well worth it.
After all, you will be saving a life! Your body completely replaces
the bone marrow in about two weeks. More detailed information can be
found at

http://www.marrow.org/DONOR/abcs_of_donation.html

Since the odds of two people being a perfect match are small, we
are trying to get as many people as we can to this bone marrow drive on
February 25th. The more people we get, the better chance Tristan has
of finding a match. Therefore, I ask all of you to come and get tested
at our drive to see if you are a match. It's safe, simple, and you can
save Tristan's life. Additionally, I also ask that you spread the word
to your friends and family. As I said, the more people who come to our
drive, the better Tristan's chances are!
Finally, we are also raising money to pay for this Bone Marrow
Drive. In addition to attending the drive, if you would like to
contribute financially, please send all contributions to

Tristan Campbell, Trust
P.O. Box 145
Watettown, CT 06795

The check should be payable to Tristan Campbell, Trust.

Before I close, you can also get updates on how Tristan is doing

Thank You!

Vea, I will pass the message on about how important bone marrow and blood donations are.
My cousin needed a bone marrow transplant a while back and she may need one again in the future. She still is struggling and they told her she will never have children and the dangers if she were to get pregnant, even though the insisted it would be impossible. She's 18 and now pregnant and will be in the hospital soon until the baby is born in March. They have no idea how she got this far into the pregnancy and no idea how her or baby will do after. She looks very frail, I just saw her at her mothers funeral.
The registry called my brother once and said he was a possilbe match and he agreed to do anything that was needed but never heard back.
Thanks for the reminder, it's very important.
Hope the little guy is ok.

Thanks everyone....you really don't think of how important this is until it happens to someone you know.
