View Full Version : Saturday
I slept from 9 pm last night till 6 this am!!!!!
DD's babysitting job ended up being over here. They were supposed to go to this outdoor restaraunt but it was too cold, so the parents decided to go to a movie. They said that the first time they use a babysitter they like to do it at her house cause they were more comfortable. It makes sense, I guess, but it was sort of odd. So dh who thought he was just cooking for he and ds (my stomach is still weird) got two more for dinner! LOL
Tonite we are going to my cousin's house for dinner, her older sister (the one from TN) is in town. DS did an oops, my dad and his wife weren't invited and he called yesterday to ask ds to play golf and he said 'gosh can't cause we are going to auntie's house to see Aunt Cissy'. Dad gets me on the phone and says 'we were invited' oh..gosh..didn't know........call my cousin to give her a heads up. I don't blame her though, the last 2 times she has invited them to stuff, my dad has called to fuss at her that she didn't word her invitation right and hurt his wife's feelings. i'd be gunshy too.

Ann-Enjoy your evening. I agree about the weird babysitting. Doesn't it seem that they should be more concerned with making their own child comfortable??
The 3rd of 5 cheerleading competitions is today. It's 1 1/2 hours away. I dropped dd off at 6:45 and they don't get on the floor until 2:45. (Thank God for team buses. I don't have to leave until noon!!)
This weather is strange--there's no snow on the ground and there's been no cold weather. I'm happy, but getting a little nervous. Our average snowfall is about 120" I think we've had about 30. I'm afraid the rest will come down in April!! LOL
Happy Weekend!
Up with a slight headache this morning. Went to homecoming last night. The gym was packed and hot. Had a very late dinner afterward and then straight to bed. Wanted to sleep longer but knew that only makes my head hurt worse. Got a pot of coffee on.
Have about a million and two things to do at school this morning. I know I'll be there until noon if not longer. Then I need to run and get groceries and be back home by 3:00. Dil is bringing the kids over to spend the night. No need to clean house, Braeden will have things all over within 5 minutes. It's amazing how that bothered me so with my kids but I'm so much more laid back about it with the gks.
Coffee's calling so I'm off. Have a good weekend all.

Went to homecoming last night.
Homecoming in February?
We arrived in San Diego last night! It only took us 11 hours and 45 minutes! I hate CA traffic. I don't know how people live here and put up with it each and every day. When you are on a 6 lane freeway and it's jam packed barely moving, there are WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE! Dh and dd left w/ my mil this morning to go camping. I didn't really want to go w/o our trailer. So ds and I stayed home. We are going to run some errands today and then eat dinner at my parent's house. We have a busy week as we are shpping dh's truck on Tuesday and then flying to MO on Thursday. I'm excited about our mini trip as we are going to see my grandma (my dad's mom). She's the only grandparent I have left.
Hope everyone is doing OK around here. I really miss checking in everyday.

Jen, glad to see you checking in when you can. Have fun while visiting.
Cathy, good luck to your dd today.
Took the boys to the theatre yesterday. Original plan was to see Nanny McPhee but wound up seeing Hoodwinked instead which was probably a better choice as far as ds3 is concerned, more entertaining. The older boys and I really want to see Narnia but it's too scary for ds3 so maybe I will take them to see it soon. I promised ds3 to go to Curious George next week when it opens, I can't wait. I loved the story books when I was little, still do love that monkey. I wanted to do ds3's bedroom in Curious George but couldn't find anything at the time.
Ds1 and dh left for ds's basketball game. I am boiling cabbage for cabbage rolls. Might take off with ds2 later to get some stuff for his project. Hockey game on tonight so I'm sure it will be quite loud here as always. LOL
Hope you all have a great day :)

I am sitting here feeling miserable. I have caught a cold or something, and I didn't know what I could take for it, so here I sit with my nose almost glogged shut, and my head pounding. I have ran a fever for the last 2 days, and I have taken tylenol for that, but it just helps with the fever, not the stuffiness. Of course this happens on a weekend, and I have no way to contact my doctor. They said they would give me all that information on my first official OB visit on Feb 20. That is nice, but it doesn't do me any good right now. Anyways sorry for griping. I need to finish some laundry today, but other than that, I don't really have any plans but laying around trying to feel better. Hope everyone has a great day!

How high is your fever getting? The pharmacy can give you the approved otc drug list for the first trimester. Does your ob have a web site to look up info like that?

That is very common around here especially with younger girls who are just beginning to babysit. It gives the parents extra comfort knowing that the babysitter's parents are right there in case of an emergency.

Leigh, I agree call the pharmacist. You don't want it to develop into something worse.
Cold, but sunny day here. Woke up about 9. Went in to get groceries and stuff this morning with the idea that maybe Saturday will last longer this way! LOL
Just got done making cereal bars, cookies, scotcheroos, and muffins (from a mix :newwink: )
Just about to get started on newsletters for preschool and fine tuning my lesson plans.
Church later and then I'll probably be doing my food program paperwork. I really should steam clean the daycare carpets but I really don't have the time.
Ds #3 has First Reconciliation tomorrow afternoon--afraid it will be a short day.
Looked at MP3 players today for ds #1's birthday. The one I found (which is about all Alco carries) is an RCA. It holds up to 8 hours or 160 songs. It's priced at $70--Does that sound like a reasonable price?? Ds's birthday is next Sunday and he wants it early so he can take it to state bowling next Friday. I won't be at Walmart or anything similar before then.

Cleaning this afternoon...and getting ready for a little Superbowl Party we are having tomorrow night. Should be fun. We're having quesadilla's, chips, salsa, etc. Yum!!

Got our bedroom painted this morning and we LOVE it! It'll need another coat and I'll do that when I'm home alone tomorrow.
Taking the Girl Scouts to a party at the Children's Museum tonight.
Kat, hope your head is better.
Leigh, hope you get some relief.
Jen, good to see ya here!!!

The least expensive ipod is $99, 12 hours or 120 songs - most everywhere
I found...
RCA - 40 songs, 2 hours 36.99 at Best Buy
RCA - 256 MB, 59.87 at Walmart
RCA - 512 MB, 78.72 at Walmart
The ipods are rechargable the RCA's that I saw all run on a AAA battery.
this is the brand we are looking at for dd

I hope you feel better Leigh!
Good evening all. I spent the day at work (9:00 am - 6:45 pm). Sometimes bored, but I kept myself occupied texting a new friend of dh's and I from dh's work. He had no clue who I was. He spent part of the afternoon with dh at darts and dh did a great job of playing dumb, lol. I ended up coming clean tonight when I got home from work. All the guys at work were in on it too...now what will I do to occupy myself tomorrow?

Cathy, good luck to your dd today.
Thanks, Mel. They were pretty bad. They dropped some stunts, one girl popped (?) her knee out near the beginning of the routine, and another one was hyperventilating and passed out when they got off the mats. They were disappointed because they worked so hard, but you only have 3 minutes and it has to be right. It's not like basketball where you can catch up later. I'm hoping for better luck next time. (So far this season they've gotten a first and a second place, so they really are a good team.....It's not just me being partial. LOL)

Leigh... Bummer, I hope you're feeling much better. (((HUGS)))
Ann... weird about the kids having to come over to your house. I would think the kids would have felt more comfortable being in their own house with their own toys to play with. Not too sure if I would have liked that. So.... did your dad and his wife end up being invited too? Your ds must have felt terrible for spilling the beans.
Cathy... we've had very little snow this year too and pretty much have none on the ground right now. I've said the same thing... we may be enjoying it now but eventually, when we least expect it... we'll get dumped on. I would love a winter without snow... :)
Kat... Have fun with your grandchilden. :) I use to be a pick butt about my house when my kids were little too but for some reason it doesn't bother me a bit when Sarah does it. LOL
JAK... thanks for checking in. It's nice to hear where you are and what you're doing. :)
Melody... I'd love to see Nanny McPhee, it looks like it would be a good movie. I'm glad you and the kids enjoyed Hoodwinked.
Jen.... what color did you paint your bedroom? I'm glad you love it!!!
BevJ... Poor confused guy... :biglaugh: you're too funny! LOL
Cathy... Hope they are okay and that they do better next time.
Dh and I finished cleaning the carpets today. Did the steps... those are harder and take longer to do. Then we ran to SAM'S Club and stopped to eat at Arby's after. It's SO cold outside... I couldn't wait to get back home to our warm house. Nothing much else. Hope you all had a good day!

Jen.... what color did you paint your bedroom? I'm glad you love it!!!
It's called Grand Teton White by Benjamin Moore. Dh and I had a HUGE fight as we started. When it went on, it looked yellowish (I hate yellow) and we stopped painting. An hour later, LOL, we decided to just use the d@mn stuff and by the time it dried, and the sun hit it differently, it was beautiful! It's weird how the light changes the color throughout the day.
I'm so glad we like it, because it's going in the bathoom too.

Ouch and yikes!!!!

!
It was just one little girl. I thought it odd, but I guess it sort of makes sense. But if you didn't have confidence enough in the child to have her at your house, why would you have her babysit.......
No..they didn't get invited and no, ds didn't feel badly..he's a teenager! LOL

Cathy, sorry they did so badly and ouch for that girl. Better luck next time :)
Sista, glad you like the paint color. I'm going to try my best to talk dh into painting the bathroom with me over the next couple of weeks. Some plastering needs to be done, an old ugly paper border is still up from the previous owners and the toilet needs to be replaced. I'm hoping we can just do this cosmetic stuff now instead of him ripping apart the whole bathroom to re-do it. It's hard to get him to do a 'little' job instead of doing it all over. LOL
Homecoming in February?
Basketball homecoming. You don't do both? I guess it is a bit late in the season. Senior night is this Tuesday, then tournament play.
Kat... Have fun with your grandchilden. :) I use to be a pick butt about my house when my kids were little too but for some reason it doesn't bother me a bit when Sarah does it. LOL
The term pick butt cracked me up. I guess I was a pick butt too. I hear about it all the time too. "You never let me do that when I was little." Ay, get over it. We had a good time. I teach the tender time bible class and they are both in it. They just love it. Dil called at 1:00 to ask if they were asleep. Then said that she was going to her dad's and would pick them up at 5:00. Ok, but don't you think your dad would like to see them? She showed up at 6:30. By the time she got home with them, it's time for bath and bed. I hope she's going for quality cause she doesn't seem to want much quantity.

Bless your heart. I guess we've all been there. I swear by Afrin. A couple of squirts and in less than 5 minutes I'm a new woman. Funny that it doesn't seem to help dh at all. Hope it opens you up so you can get some rest.

Kat & Diane - Are you telling me I'm going to be a nicer grandma than a mom? lol
I'm sure you're a great mom, but you'll be an even better grandma. LOL I don't know what it is about having grandchildren... they're so special and so much fun to have around. I always look forward to her coming over, but when it's time, I'm also ready for her to get picked up. LOL :) (they certainly can poop you out... LOL)
I tell my daughter/sil... that Sarah's perfect, because when she's here with grandma she practically is. (they're like... suuuure, you should see her when she's at home... :) LOL) We bake cookies and do a lot of special things that I'm sure Dawn/James doesn't have the time to do with her at home.
My favorite thing is when they drive up and I can hear Sarah squealing with delight, calling for grandma... then comes running over to me with big hugs/kisses. Melts my heart each/every time... LOL (I'm such a pushover) :) It's soo fun!

My nephews used to jump up and down at the door when I would pull up to their house. Of course time with Auntie was all fun and games and was long before I had my own! I'm looking forward to being where you are, but I'm really loving where I am too!
