Ahhhh, I'm headed for the beach with the hubby and dd this weekend and was wondering if anyone had read any good books they could recommend while lazing on the beach..... 8)

I KNOW, I KNOW, STOP LAUGHING!! :biglaugh: Yeah, if you're like me, all the books you've ready lately have colorful pictures and rhyming words!

Anyway, even if you read a good one a looooong time ago, let me hear and I'll check out the library for it.

Have a good Memorial Day Weekend, ya'll!! :rwb:

Have fun at the beach. "Evening Class" was a good book, can't remember the author. It was about several different characters who all took an evening class and how their lives crossed paths. I usually read classical literature so I don't have any other current suggestions.

The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve is a great easy read. Anything by James Patterson if you like suspense. Midwives, Black and Blue (Anna Quindlen I think). Currently I am reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It is excellent, although a bit of a downer but very well written. Enjoy the beach!

Currently I am reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch. It is excellent that one is in my nightstand, I haven't read it yet.

I'm still working on the Left Behind series. Last one. Yea!

I love all of John Grisham's, Michael Crichton's and Robin Cook's books. Dean Koontz' False Memory was a real page turner for me, I could not put it down. Also read Petru Popescu's Almost Adam a couple of years ago about a "missing link" boy in Kenya. It was a good read. Enjoy!

I've read some already listed and I'm getting ideas so thanks!

I might add a series that I like...the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I think the first one is titled At Home In Mitford. It's a good series.

Enjoy whatever you read! :)

I loved that series too! Do you know if she is going to write anymore to go with them? I tried going to the website posted in the books, but it is unavailable.

The "Evening Class" book mentioned above is by Maeve Binchy. It was good. Actually any of her books are good -- some of them are books of short stories and some are novels.

The "Left Behind" series of books are good -- not light reading though.

Have you read the newest one, A Common Life? It came in April I think. It tells the story of the wedding :)
I'm hoping more books come out but haven't read about anywhere.... I'd love to know more! :)

Well, thanks everyone. I had several mysteries in my bag (Sue Grafton and Mary Higgins Clark) as well as Maria Shriver's - Ten Things I Wish I'd Known.....

Well, I got past the first 5 or 6 things she wished she had known, and then was stricken with a urinary tract infection..... :bawling:
Had never had one before and I thought I would die.....

So, my mind wasn't on reading this weekend; but there's always the beach trip on the 4th of July, and now I have lots of books to check out!

Thanks tons,
Jennifer
