This is my second year at my current school and am experiencing something wild! 10 out of 24 of my students are returning again for another year of preschool. Most of them have spring birthdays, but I'm not sure why there are so many that are not opting for Kindergarten.

My question is do I put them all together in the same class?? Do I add more to my units, to keep them interested and progressing. I feel like if these children aren't reading by third quarter, my name will be dirt. I have most of my lesson plans written from previous years and don't want to spend my whole summer writing new ones. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Hi!
Did I notice right that you're from Nebraska too? Where at? I'm from the central part--Ord.

As for the preschool question, we see alot of parents delaying kindergarten here. My dd's birthday is in June and we waited an extra year to send her. The extra year was very helpful with her social development.

I would recommend putting them in the same class. At the preschool dd went to she put all the older ones in one class. Wouldn't you be able to just add to the lesson plans you have? Maybe taking them another step higher rather than rewriting them?

Good luck!!

Nice to see a fellow Nebraskan on the board! :)

Thanks for the suggestions, Linda. I am from the Northeast part of Nebraska around Norfolk. Small world!
