View Full Version : Music that makes you feel like a teenager
I was listening the radio on the way home from work, and starting laughing at how I felt singing along to the song that was playing....noticed it made me feel like I had years ago....so what kind of music makes you feel like a "kid again"
To night it was Tom Petty

Listening to anything from the 80's makes me feel young and old all at the same time. LOL!
I love alternative music so I feel like a teenager all the time, lol. I actually don't really like the music I liked as a teenager anymore, unless it's David Bowie, lol...or Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Neil Young (all of which ds is getting into now...you know, old school, lol).

One day my friend came to pick me up for school. "Maggie" was playing on the radio when we got a flat tire. Every time I hear that song (which isn't all that often any more) I think of that day and us, in our way too short skirts... LOL trying to change that tire. LOL It always puts a smile on my face...
This is always a joke at work. My boss and I are always putting on Aretha or the Temptations and the kids want all this techno stuff! LOL Actually, we all get pretty cranked up when Aretha comes on...we have been known to dance behind the bar much to our customers amusement and/or horror!

Pretty much anything. I'm a fan from the 50's on up for any kind of music. Some stuff before the 50's too and some classical even reminds me of being a teen. My kids are into some of the 'old school' stuff too and just learning about a lot of it. I love a lot of new bands too, Nickleback is so huge in my house. lol Some songs will take me back to rollerskating out west and some other songs will remind me of going in Ont. Disco can really get me moving around the house though LOL
Ann, I love the Temptations! My dad and I get talking about music like that and could go on for hours. :)

I realize it is not the oldies yet, but it just makes me feel older because children today, are like who is that? It makes me feel like I am out of touch with today.

Aren't you in your 20's still? How is it that you remember 80's music as a child? LOL Now I feel REALLY OLD!

I am almost 30. I just turned 28. I don't remember the earlier years of it, but I remember the later 80's.

same here Leigh 28 this past Jan. I love the 80's music. They don't make music like that any more. Remember the band DIvo- the guys who sang "whip it? My sisters said when that song came on I would put a pot on my head and start dancing aroun the house. LOL In the video they have red pots on their heads.
Or what about movies. We should start a movie thread. Like Back to the future, Sixteen candles- all the bratt pack movies, dirty dancing, grease. When's the last time they made a good movie like those? NIC

oh my if 80s is considered "oldies" then what is the 50s ?? considered ?? hmmm lololol
I love most music from the 50s up to about mid 70s ( only a few good songs since then in the "rock n roll" parts .. lolol ) went country about that time so love lots of the old country.. was very saddened to hear Buck Ownes past away this past Sat .. very sad .. he was great, tiger by the tail, its crying time again .. neat songs ..
Like some of the oldies: 40s 30s swing time, big band era .. lololol
Movies .. dang love lots of the oldddd black n whites .. now that was great movies .. to me anyways .. they don't make them like that anymore for sure ..
I have "CHARLIE CHAN, SHERLOCK HOLMES, GLENN MILLER STORY " HMMM Can't think rite now hmmm oh yes have the silent verison of ZORRO & PHANTOM OF THE OPERA .. bought those two totally by accident .. and at a truckstop no less...
